Editorial Reviews

No nonsense Death Metal in the vein of Decapitated and Cannibal Corpse, topped by insane female vocalist Som.

When you split the difference between slam metal (Devourment, Cephalotripsy) and technical death metal, (Origin, Cephalic Carnage) you come up with Cerebral Bore. The mix of slams and grunts, with bass noodling and guitar spazzery, is a mixture of pure divinity. Like Dying Fetus without the non-growling vocals, Cerebral Bore is a band with good intentions and even better chops. These kids are pretty young and fronted by a girl (you would never know if I didn't just tell you!!!) and seem destined for Summer Slaughter tour appearances. I can't say enough good things about them! The vocals are intense and pitch perfect, (if you enjoy the Bree Bree slam style vocals) the drums are tight and nicely varied, the guitars screech, squeal, chug, and sing as good as anything in the slam genre and almost as good as anything in the tech-death genre, and the bass is awesome, with palpable rhythms and runs. Actually this album reminds me on many different levels of the mighty Cryptopsy's fantastic breakthrough record "None So Vile". So do yourself a favor and check them out if anything I just said peaks your interest, you won't be disappointed!

Where was Cerebral Bore when I started listening to extreme metal in 1999? this lady and 3 gentleman seem to have a morbid sense of humor. you could sit this disc next to your discs by Haemorrhage, Carcass, Impaled, and Aborted. this CD is both brutal and technical. I can't believe the young age of the band members. it seems like metal bands are being started by babies now. as soon as they are born, it seems like their thoughts are "learn how to walk, talk, and then play an instrument, and then form a metal band". I have not listened to Decapitated yet, but the members started at age 14. the lady vocalist can "pig squeal" with the best of them.

The singer is a chick, but the sound of her growl is badass! She does deep growls and pig squeals. The songs are cool. My complaint is the recording, when the double bass from the drums start going you cant hear the guitar riffs very well which makes the songs start to sound the same. the drummer should change up how much double bass is in each song (mix it up) and they should turn the drums down just a touch so you can hear each piece of the band, but thats just my opinion

I really love this band. The gutter squeals are amazing. I myself love the genre Death Metal and anything heavier. This Cd quickly made it to most played on my computer and it is all together an amazing CD, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a very heavy band that isn't just garbled nonesense and just played very fast. Maniacal Miscreation has clean sound and still keeps it heavy. 5 out of 5 stars definately.

This album has to be the most overdone, cliche, generic new-wave DM I've heard. The only thing going for it is the lyrics, which appeal the humorous DM fans. I'm not one to stand around and criticize an album so harshly, but this album is horrid. The songs are boring, as if they have no influences at all. The drums have the same snare tone as any other technical death metal band, and the guitars sound so under-produced that I'm sure Ingested would say "hey, you can't do that!" - the vocals are alright, but when you pig squeal in every song, especially during the parts where the song starts to kind of pickup, you lose it all in a nutshell. I think my biggest issue here is the fact we're overrating this album cause of a chick singer in it. Don't be afraid to criticize, Mr.Males! Female musicians have been around for a long time, quit beating it for a minute and listen to the music going on. Nothing new here

All in all, this album is a absolute mess... maybe they should mature a little more than press out a album like this. Hopefully, with Som out, they discover a new sound and make something great. Otherwise, 4/10.

(to each their own)

This is one of the best brutal slam death metal albums I've heard. Period. Shame they broke up. They're on par with Abominable Putridity in my opinion, if you're into those guys. Real groovy.

Amazing tech slam death album. Absolutely brutal sound, kind of like disfiguring the goddess meets job for a cowboy with some grind influences in there as well. 5/5 stars
