An Introduction quotes Robert Collier: "...see the things you want as already yours. Think of them as belonging to you, as already in your possession." Then: "Manifestation of our dreams comes through a simple yet powerful method of targeted creation of our deepest desires." with the explanation that "Manifesting, in simple words, is the appearance of your ideas and thoughts in a tangible form, which you create, through the power of your mind." And: "This book is a thorough guide about manifesting your dreams and making them a reality." "Whatever you THINK you are or have ... YOU are and have." From this point the author proceeds to suggest ways to maximize this power.
Description: This is another in a slowly growing number of `how-to' books to meet the needs of an apparently expanding population of negative thinking individuals. Reasons for this expansion are obvious. Job dissatisfaction and the conscious need for keeping up with a tremendously fast moving world, threats to national security, disastrous floods, fires, earthquakes and tornados, threats of identity theft and a seemingly overall dissatisfaction with government - situations affecting not only dwellers within the United States but occurring worldwide. The author, in attempting to attack this negativism, presents suggestions for banishing negative thoughts with "... practical tips and exercises to bring you to an understanding of how to manifest your dreams..." She begins with a brief explanation of the need for exertion of `mind over body' and of Alpha, Beta, Theta and Delta waves and their associated areas of influence. This is followed by instructions to relax by first clearing the mind and how practicing conscious thoughtful breathing exercises can help in this matter by slowing mental activity. Other suggestions are made on how to reach a position of unconditional love, gratitude and forgiveness that will lead to a greater `Oneness' with the Universe and fulfilment of your wishes, and quotes Ralph Waldo Emerson: "Once you make a decision the Universe conspires to make it happen."
Discussion: The author has presented some well thought out suggestions on the importance of ridding oneself of negativity and has set forth a treatise quite well worth while reading for its uplifting presentation. It is a book that many readers will find enjoyable for this elevating quality and although some basic suggestions are sound and will be found to be most helpful, the impression gained by this reviewer is that the overall thrust of the discussion is more of a `theoretical practicality'; e.g., Author's statement: "Create emotions that you already have what you desire. If you have to pretend and use your imagination do so. You may not know how this will happen, but your creative mind and the Universe will already know how." Unfortunately, a statement of this nature brings immediately to mind a cartoon in an earlier issue of a scientific honor society journal. A man has displayed a long complicated formula and his colleague asks "Don't you think this requires a little further explanation?" pointing to a box in the center of the formula that is empty except for the printed words - A miracle happens. My reference in no way attempts to gainsay the appearance of miracles, but a statement of this nature puts the reader again into the position of accepting something akin to the myriad of similar offerings by politicians today.
I read this 80 page book and felt cheated. This book is a primer and needs to be fully developed. The author raises great points, however does not go the extra mile to discuss them. This book seems an overview to a larger volume this author should tackle
Note this book is about spiritual growth . I comes off stronger than most books on the subject matter. There is NOT a false note the author does come across with as other have in their self help books. This stream of thought needs to be developed further and I wish It was. It is very direct in its approach, but it only goes so far..I wish it went further.,It needed to manfest that if the author makes an expended volume
Note I wish this primer was on audio, This short book would make a great spoken word self help book. The author may consider that
Readers who are new to the concepts of laws of attraction and positive thinking will find this a good read. The writing style is very good, and it's easy to understand. Manifest Your Dreams is a good starting point for those wishing to better themselves and achieve their dreams.
