About the Author

Peter Hasson is a senior investigative reporter at the Daily Caller News Foundation. Big Tech Deception, Exposed

It's no secret that social media platforms are increasingly stifling right wingers. It started after Trump got elected. Trump used social media to deliver his message directly to the masses, without depending on the traditional print media and TV. Big Tech saw his victory as its failing, and took it upon itself to correct it for the 2020 election. Thus began the great purge. People with incorrect (aka right wing) opinions are expelled or suppressed, while the liberals are left alone to do their propaganda in peace. Vast majority of people working for Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and other Big Tech companies are left wingers. This is them doing their part for The Cause. If Bad Orange Man, who is literally Hitler, can be stopped from getting re-elected, then that would justify almost anything they have to do to make it happen. So they lie and cheat for the Greater Good. The right wing victims are given a plausible explanation for their punishment (e.g. violation of some subjectively enforced policy), but the same policies and rules don't seem to apply to the left wing users.

This very readable book goes into depth on this phenomenon, making the Big Tech deception crystal clear to the meanest intelligence with numerous examples. Highly recommended.

We all admire Google, the company founded by Stanford PhDs, the Palo Alto garage story, the Markov chains based PageRank algorithm, and the entire nerd mythology surrounding this search engine behemoth - including the "Do no evil" mantra. However, Hasson's book paints a sinister picture of censorship, bias and contempt for anything outside the Google bubble. This is a must read book - well written, fast paced, and topical.

It is true that Facebook , Google, and Twitter are designed to manipulate their users' thinking in as much as they allow the same people to manipulate them. Some of the ways in which Facebook and the others operate are questionable, notably, the collection and use of personal data. But that is not Mr Hasson's complaint. He claims that Facebook and the others are presenting only one side of the story - the left wing side. He accuses them of not being even handed, a charge that he himself is guilty of.

The problem is that America is now so divided that there is no longer a middle ground, and it works on the basis that you are either left or right, and more importantly, if you are on the other side, you are wrong. No arguments, no reasoning. Flat wrong.

That is the sad state of America. So if you are a right wing American, this book will be rated five stars. If you are left wing, this will be a one-star rating. As a non-American, I rate this a two-star because I do not feel that this book is objective, given that I have read similarly one-sided books of the other side. Hasson complains about the one-side news of Facebook and CNN, but seems content with the one-sidedness of Fox News. Many books do prefer one side and oppose the other, but their authors write in moderate tones. This is close to a rant, and it puts off neutral readers.

Must Read For Conservatives On Social Media

A wonderfully written book that really highlights the bias that conservatives face on social media, and throughout tech in general. Peter Hasson is one of the few journalists left doing actual investigative reporting, and that researching skill really shines in this book. The sourcing is great for personal knowledge, as well as to refute any arguments that the information contained in the book is made up or “right wing talking points”. Overall, just a great and informative read. If you’re to the right of Karl Marx and use social media, this is a must read.
