Product Description

Like a sponge, the activated charcoal layer embedded in the non-woven material absorbs harmful gases such as nitrogen dioxide, fuels and ozone into pores which are 10,000 times finer than a human hair. That is how the combi-filter ensures a healthy cabin environment. This modern filter consists of a non-woven-based particle filter media, an activated charcoal layer and a carrier media to improve stability

I just purchased a used 2009 Cooper S and I wanted to freshen things up in the cabin. This Mann-Filter is a charcoal filter that is very thick and an exact fit! Plus, it came with instructions for a first timer like me. When I took out the original Mini filter it was also a Mann but it was a very flimsy paper filter. Even though my Mini dealer affords me a free filter every 2 years, I would definitely recommend this Mann charcoal filter as an upgrade. Side note... Mini charges $60 for a new filter!!! I plan on checking it every 5K miles and replacing it every 10K-15K miles. 2 years on a filter replacement is too long for my taste.

This is a perfect fit for my 2008 Mini Cooper S. Beats the dealer price on the OEM item, and it's literally a perfect fit for a top quality product.

I wanted to specifically write this review because I see confusion in the reviews for this product. See the little arrows on the sides of the air filter? When installing it, be sure that the arrows point DOWN. That's the way of the air flow. The air in brought in from the top and flows down. Some people have made the arrows point up, but that is an incorrect installation. Just wanted to point this out. Will that make a HUGE difference? No, but may as well install this correctly.

This Mann filter is the exact Mini Cooper OEM filter that shipped from the factory with my 2011 Mini Cooper S. The only difference is it does not not have the word "Mini" printed on the side. Everything else is identical including markings, the number of folds, charcoal filter element and felt side pieces. The filter is a quality product that is made in Germany. The price is very affordable compared to dealer prices so I plan to purchase these from now on so I can change the filter more often. This filter is hands down better than the paper aftermarket filters and won't crinkle and distort when you slide it in place because the felt side pieces are more durable compared to paper versions. Make sure to install the filter with the arrows pointing down so that it is inline with the direction of airflow where it is designed to work.

Just changed out this filter - took about five minutes and it is a definite fit for a 2009 MINI Cooper S (thank you to the previous reviewer who put the model year in their review - made me feel much safer about ordering it).

The only confusion was that we didn't see any arrows stamped on the filter to indicate which side is "up" - there was just some writing from Mann so we put it in where the words were right side up (readable direction, not upside down) until we find out for sure which way it goes. There is a darker side and a lighter side, not sure which direction is correct orientation for the air flow. Does anyone know?

Anyway, this filter seems much more solid than the OEM cabin filter from the MINI dealership - we had acquired one of those at first and then found a link to this filter on a MINI Cooper online forum. Returned that one and saved $21 on the filter (and saved way more by installing it ourselves instead of having the dealership do it).

I had the original filter for about 3 years, and figured it needs a change. My dealer was gotta charged me $130 (labor + part) for the installation of the new cabin filter on my 2011 Clubman (R55). But I figured it's a easy change and it shouldn't cost that much. So I went to the Internet and found myself the lecture video on youtube. It was very helpful indeed. The whole installation took only 5 minutes with a flat screwdriver. On the side of the filter, you will see the manufacturer place: 'Germany' was imprinted. The filter was constructed with excellent material.

My "friendly" Mini dealership wanted $105 to replace the cabin air filter - I figured that must be a heck of a filter and/or a heck of a lot of labor. Looked this up on the webpage of my local auto parts store. Went to Amazon - it was half the cost of what my local auto parts place charges for exactly the same part (if they have it in stock - if they don't have it, they tell me they will have it tomorrow - result is a trip to the store and then another trip to pick it up the next day). This was delivered to my front porch the day after I'd ordered it! I went out to the car, opened two little clips under the glove box, pulled out the old filter and inserted the new filter, closed the two clips and was done in less than 5 minutes. Including the time I'd spent online, I spent about 20 minutes for the whole experience and saved a bundle.
A great lesson here for two businesses - first for the dealership - if they are to remain competitive, they must change their pricing model and second for the brick and mortar stores - you guys need to catch up with service or you'll be out of business.

WAY cheaper than the dealer. Installation literally took 90 me seconds. Greatly improved the air quality inside my Mini and got rid of that sour, moldy smell you get after turning off the AC. Now that I know how easy and cheap it is, I'll be replacing the filter in all my cars and more often.

I have a 2009 Mini Cooper S Hardtop. This filter fits perfectly. I've had the dealership replace the filter twice now since I've owned the car. Now that it's out of warranty, I am not willing to pay them $60 for an $18 part and 5 minutes of labor.

This was my first go and replacing my cabin air filter by myself. The shipment arrived quickly, and even came with instructions for the first-timer. It's pretty basic, and even more straight forward than I thought. There aren't even any screws to remove. The supplied instructions give an estimate of 18 minutes. It took me 9. The majority of the time was spent trying to unclasp the cover from under the glove box. Basically, I was being too gentle, and just needed to really pry the two clasps apart with some force. But the passenger foot-well light near the air filter cover didn't help too much (it sorta of is in the way). Needless to say, now that I've done it myself, the next time will be less than 5 minutes.

One other tidbit of info for first-timers, is that I thought the filter was just just placed in flat. There is actually a wavy groove (S-wave) that the filter slides into. It slides in pretty easily though.

Also, as is the case with another reviewer, I wasn't exactly sure which way was the correct way for the air flow. I should have looked at the filter I removed, to see which way Mini had theirs installed (which, by the way, was basically identical to this one -- it was even a Mann-Filter, both made in Germany). I ended up installing it so that the end pieces of the filter "v" pattern were facing toward the sky. So, it basically looks like this \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ and NOT like this: /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\. After some research, it appears that was correct.
