About the author

Elyse Salpeter is an author who loves mixing "the real with the fantastic" in her books. She likes nothing better than taking different scenarios and creating worlds where things just aren't what they appear to be.
Her 6-book supernatural thriller series, THE HUNT FOR XANADU, THE QUEST OF THE EMPTY TOMB, THE CALL OF MOUNT SUMERU, THE HAUNTING OF CRAGG HILL HOUSE, THE SEARCH FOR STARLIGHT and THE JOURNEY BACK are about a brilliant and fearless young woman named Kelsey Porter, whose life is steeped in Buddhist spiritual mysteries and she is constantly discovering the world around her is not what she believed it to be.
Her paranormal suspense series, FLYING TO THE LIGHT and FLYING TO THE FIRE are about a young deaf boy who knows what happens to you when you die and now people are after him for the answers.
Horror novel, THE MANNEQUINS, is about a film crew that enters an abandoned mansion and disappears, while her horror collection, RICKET ROW, is filled with little creepy tales, guaranteed to keep you up at night.
Her sci-fi collection called TITANIUM FLOW is rife with alien worlds, genetic testing, trans-galaxy romance, and robots!
And lastly, her dark fantasy series, THE WORLD OF KAROV and THE RUBY AMULET are about twins, power and magic all interweaved with the theme of good vs evil.
When she's not writing, she's training for triathlons and eating shock food in her Gastronaut Club. You need to go back and proofread/edit this book.
1. In places, you're telling, not showing.
2. Some grammatical/spelling issues.
3. Timeline issues. The book opens with the idea that with Jack and his friends, it started 15 years ago. Later on, one of the long-timers - Babs I believe? Notes that it should be 2014 now. Hold on - are we now 15 years into the future?
4. The Preacher - he's very one-dimensional. I mean, yes, he's the villain, but he's like an overgrown spoilt Draco Malfoy in a frock. The other characters were similarly not as well developed, except probably for Jack. He shows the most development.
It was at this point I had to stop reading. Maybe one day in the future I'll pick it up again. The idea is amazing. Hopefully, once you go back and give it a good rework, I'll be able to start over and truly enjoy this book.

An alright read and a stand-alone story, just not very well-written and a bad ending lets it down.
I now want to read more from Elyse Salpeter.
15 years they spent on the other side? Then all of a sudden, with little to no effort, they're out and everyone is free and it's over??? This had so much potential!!! What an amazingly terrifying yet Doctor Who -esque concept of Mannequins trapped in a mansion in a world where time passes like normal outside but can be frozen within the walls! Touch a mannequin become a mannequin, the mirrors.... it was a short novel but could have been turned into a longer novel and made breathtakingly terrifying.
Great story, weak ending.
