At Tahi we believe nature is our greatest asset and it is a guiding principle for all of Tahi activities. Instead of following normal commercial beekeeping practices, the bees are not fed sugar syrup or chemicals and never go on orchard visits where commercially kept bees pick up pesticides, fungicides, herbicides and other toxins. Whilst these normal beekeeping techniques might make commercial sense since sugar is cheaper than honey, and orchardists pay beekeepers to pollinate their crops, these practices lead to weakened hives and contaminate the honey. Tahi honey is never blended with honey from hives that are not under Tahi stewardship to maintain exceptional quality in each jar. The honey is not pasteurized (raw), undamaged and minimally filtered for maximum goodness the way honey should be. The super taste, aroma and thick creaminess comes from the fact that this honey has been crafted with care. Tahi has planted more than 250,000 native trees to restore the habitat. A decade ago there were fewer than 20 bird species at Tahi Estate, there are now at least 69, 23 of which are rare or threatened. The beautiful label is a celebration of this success. I bought this to replace a Manuka Health product rated at 550 mgo, which I'd had a few years. The price had skyrocketed (like the liquid gold this product is). So far, the main difference that I noticed was the taste. This wasn't quite as sweet as the previous brand and probably not quite as thick (the previous stuff was almost like molasses), but the previous brand was super sweet and quite a bit older, so when I say it wasn't as sweet...it's honey - it's still very sweet. I mainly use this as a product for the medicine cabinet. Sore throats, infections - things like that. This size jar is a more generous size jar for the price and I have read elsewhere on a review about Manuka honey that while this company state the UMF is 15, it could actually be higher - which is why I bought it. The company has good accreditation. Don't be fooled by cheap stuff. There's a reason it's not cheap and it's not because it's snake oil. This is more effective at soothing a sore throat than many pharmaceuticals and it does it naturally - not by masking anything. If I lived alone, I could probably afford to use a little of this on my toast each morning to help keep the bugs at bay - but it's more a medical product for me since I have a family. I would recommend this in the medicine cabinet. Bee products are healers.

Authentic UMF Honey: Here Is Some Resarach

Let me start off by saying, I am not one to jump on the bandwagon of heath crazes or anything for that matter. I want scientific research and as an academic myself, I seek facts and not marketing ploys.

I've been wanting to try certified Mānuka honey because of the health benefits and picked this one after careful research. NOTE: there are many certified UMF brands. I just happened to select this product because word of mouth and price. Yes, this is way more expensive than your common local grocery store or health food store honey, but the large chain store honey does not compare to this product in regard to benefits.

HERE ARE THE QUICK FUNDAMENTALS:
1. WHAT IS MĀNUKA HONEY AND WHY SHOULD I BUY IT?
Mānuka Honey comes from the nectar of the flower of the Mānuka bush (Leptospermum scoparium) which is a native plant found only in New Zealand. It is the nectar and the bee that give this honey its unique properties. It is one of the world’s most unique honeys. It is well respected by consumers and has a substantial body of research behind it. Mānuka Honey is recognized as being the ‘standard’ against which other honeys are compared. Recognizing the inherent value of it, consumers have been buying Mānuka Honey for over 20 years.

2. WHAT IS UMF?
UMF is a quality trademark that represents the purity and quality of Mānuka Honey.

3. WHY SHOULD I BUY UMF MĀNUKA HONEY OVER ANY OTHER NON-UMF MARK PRODUCT?
UMF Manuka honey has unique properties that have been well researched. The UMF Honey Association and the mark assure consumers that these key signature compounds are present in license-holders’ products.

The Association has a Code of Practice, which all licensees must follow. This includes independent audits to ensure compliance with UMF quality standard production facility requirements. We also appoint independent companies to regularly check samples from the marketplace. This helps protect consumers from counterfeit products.

I took the three above excerpts from the UMF origination website, the organization that certifies authentic New Zealand honey. There are plenty of online resources where you can conduct your own research. I just shared one bit of information from the UMF organization to point readers in a helpful direction.

BOTTOM LINE
The honey you find in your local health food store may state its Mānuka honey, but if it does not have the UMF seal, its not certified Mānuka honey from New Zealand. As a consumer we seek the high levels of natural key ingredients (chemicals), and the UMF organization ensures the purity of the honey. NOTE: the higher the UMF rating the more expensive it is. Ratings of 10+ and above (10+, 15+, 20+, etc.) are highest grades of Manuka in New Zealand.

PRICELESS! Healed SEVERE INTESTINAL DISEASE!

This is the most amazing product! I have an extremely rare intestinal disease that basically causes me to be allergic to all foods. It ravaged my esophagus and entire digestive tract to the point that eating "normally" caused extreme pain and difficulty breathing that lead to multiple visits to the ER and doctors only to be told that they could do nothing for me.

After researching things that I could do to naturally aid my body in the healing process I read many articles on manuka honey and the importance of selecting a "UMF" (Unique Manuka Factor...the ONLY TRUE certification giving by the governing bodies in New Zealand where the honey is farmed) grade of 15 or higher to get the most medicinal effects from the honey. I decided to order the Tahi brand after checking out their website and seeing how environmentally responsible they are and how they reserve a portion of the honey made by the bees to feed the bees (vs giving them a sugar water concoction like many other bee farmers) which helps the bees remain at optimal heath promoting continued production for the next season.

I have taken 1-2 teaspoons a day (as I read was recommended) for the past 3 months and have to say that I am BLOWN AWAY...TRULY AMAZED (!!!!). I have gone from experiencing moderate COMSTANT pain daily and extreme pain on frequent occasions to NO PAIN and have actually FELT my intestinal tract heal bit by bit. Thanks to Manuka Honey I can now eat a wider variety of foods than I could before using this product and couldn't be happier.

I HIGHLY recommend this product to ANY AND EVERYONE! If there was ONE natural healing aid that you could have in your medicine cabinet I would say this HAS to be it!

Not only has it helped to heal me of a devastating intestinal disease but also, I can attest to the fact that it has saved me from a trip to the ER recently as I got a very bad infection in my leg after an insect bite. When initially learning about the many healing powers of Manuka Honey I read that "IT IS THE ONLY KNOWN PRODUCT TO KILL MRSA". Remembering that, I applied the Tahi Manuka Honey to the badly infected area just before I went to bed one night and awoke to pleasantly find that the swelling, redness, and infection had almost completely gone by the next morning. I continued to apply the honey over the next few days and, wow(!), good as new!

With all of that being said, you can see why I consider Tahi Manuka Honey to be ***LIQUID GOLD*** . I tell everyone I know about how amazingly helpful it is.
