Marbling Activity DIsappointing

I was so looking forward to enjoying these marbling Inks with my friend after watching several youtube videos. I bought them for us to play with for Christmas. These were not as easy as to play with as I thought they would be. If I had read more of the reviews maybe I wouldn't have bought these. However, there are some positive things. People have mentioned the vibrant colors. They are great if you can do anything with them. The instant gloppiness is a real problem. If you try to stir at all you will be sorry. All of the color will end up on your stick, not staying in the tray. You can't leave the lids off of the bottles. If you do the solvents will evaporate out of the bottles and the inks will stop dispersing in the water in the pan. Also, if you knock a bottle over the solvent and paint leak out even if the lid is on. We are going to try these one more time by dunking things once we put the inks in the water. I watched several youtube videos. People seemed to have more success doing that. If you want to marble papers and material you can't stir anything. Marbling paper and fabric may best be accomplished with Ebru marbling which involves sizing and alum. We are going to do that next. I included a few of the successful prints. You end up with ink all over your fingers if you don't wear gloves. I can't wait to dunk my rocks. These inks should only be used outside unless you open Windows wide and turn on a fan. Not good to use around children. Highly toxic.

There is a bit of a learning curve. It takes practice and experimenting, but the colors are very vibrant. Much brighter than enamel I've tried to float and without the hassle. Not all clear coats will work without ruining the paint. I've had success with enamel and acrylic enamel clear coats to protect the paint. For the price, a little goes a long way. Will be ordering more.

Sticks to the stick

The colors are great if you don't try to move them with the stir stick to mix. But if you try to move the color to get the mix for marbling, the colors stick to the stick and wrap around the stick, thus wasting all the colors.

When you add these colors to the water, they look so sheer, like they wouldn't work at all. But then you add your item, and it's wrapped in colorful wonderfulness! It's clearly magic of some kind.

Note that you do have to work FAST with these, because they set up almost immediately, so add a few drops of 2-3 colors (preferably simultaneously), give a quick swirl, then dip, dip, dip.

Works beautifully once you get the right work process and timing. You have less than 90 seconds start to finish or the paint dries. That’s how it is people, if it didn’t dry fast the swirl would run and drop while drying.

Until I found these, I was using model paints... with 50% of the dips with paint blobs. These are all so consistent. Love them. I will keep buying these.
