Editorial Reviews

"Few artists are as adventurous, imaginative, and uncompromising, and even fewer could hope to find a home, as Ribot has, in such diverse realms as jazz, pop, rock, blues and klezmer. And so fans can now satisfy their curiosities with the release of Anaïs Prosaïc's documentary ...The film, much like Ribot's career, hops from place to place with spirit and ambition, along with a sense of faith and conviction that what feels right artistically is all that really matters ... And if, by the end, more music is needed, fret not, for a bonus is included, with four full tracks from a solo performance in Lampli, France." -- All About Jazz

A discreet legend of the New York scene and the composer, improviser, and accompanist most sought-after by the biggest international pop stars, Marc Ribot is one of the most inventive guitarists of his generation. Composed of excerpts from concerts in New York's Lower East Side clubs--as well as from his European tour, archival footage, and conversations--this film explores the variety in the musical universes of this inspired virtuoso artist.

it was really great... i like Marc Ribot's guitar playing on Tom Waits' records... i had heard some of his avant garde albums on Rhapsody and didn't know what to think... this film's music wasn't any less strange but it was great to see the artist and hear what he said.

Marc Ribot is one of those chameleonic guitarists who can (and does) play with anyone, regardless of style... he always brings something unexpected to the table, and never disappoints. This DVD features footage of some great performances-- solo, with the Lounge Lizards, with his own groups, and great interviews with not only Ribot but some of his closest friends and associates. If you have any interest at all in his music you'll love this DVD, if not, you'll be introduced to one of the greats of modern guitar.
