Great beats and lyrics

I was listening to an interview with KA, who is also a great rapper from NYC (I like him even better than roc marciano), and he said marcburg is genius. I agree that both those guys are so much better than the stuff kids listen to like Drake and whiz and Kendrick lamar. The music is dark, gritty, and full of attitude. Their lyrics don't make you think they are bragging about all their money and cars and bling; instead, you get real pictures - like noir movies or books - of street life. Marcburg is such a deep album that grows on you more and more. I tell everyone about roc marciano because I know they'll get addicted and he needs to be listened to.

Album of the decade

This is the best album of the 2000's so far. Yes I said it. This is the album of the decade. MARCBERG is this generation's "Illmatic", "Only Built for Cuban Linx" or "Hell on Earth". Roc Marci is a fresh breath into hip hop and has some of the most original and best lyrics I've heard in years. The production is raw and dark, and has a very grimy feel too it. The album only has one guest rapper on one track ("we do it"), so you know its not going to be tons of BS appearances on every track. Make no mistake about it, this album is DARK. It is not some feel good album that will make your girl want to shake her ass. Some of the moods this album portrays feel downright sinister.... and I love every second of it. I can't recommend this album enough.

Marcberg is evocative of the greatest era in Hip Hop, it's cohesiveness is unparalleled in today's rap landscape. If you are a fan of classic albums such as Illmatic and Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... then this is an absolute must buy.

I have been a fan of Hip Hop since it's conception. It's really difficult to find modern MC's that stay true to the formula. Roc Marciano is one of the MC's from the NY who still respects the artform more than he does sound scans. In an era where record sales make you the dopest, Roc proves on Marcberg that you don't need trendy gimmicks to make a name for yourself.

I have had this album for 3 months and it never has left the chamber. I can't say that for a lot of CDs that I buy..and I buy about alot. Roc is the type of MC that talks less and says more. His rhyme pattern is off the chain. He uses consecutive words that rhyme but the content and meaning behind them are ridiculous. You have to have some awareness of many things to follow him. This is not for the commercial listener who are accustom to spoon feed baby concepts with no meaning behind them.

Roc is not new to the game. He is the former member of the group The UN,Un Or U Out, (cop that too!), he also recorded with Pete Rock and cuts with Busta Rhymes. Much of the album has your typical concepts...streets, drugs, pimpin, etc...but its clear that it's not an just an act for record sales. There is passion in his music. I like the entire album, but most of my favs are all even number cuts, but believe me, their are no fall offs here.

The bottom line is, if you are looking for Hip Hop, it's right here. Easily the best non glam, no singing on the hook, no Diva for sales, no video for MTV,BET,VH1 album I have heard in a long time. Damn near ever artist has done one of those...Not Roc. You did your thing Kid!

straight,uncut,raw new york city hip hop.this is EXACTLY what we need.it is in my opinion in the top 3 best hip hop albums of the decade.this dude is NICE on the mic.and the beats are classic east coast.him and MF DOOM need to hook up with other REAL mcs and get hip hop back the way is was.if you like REAL hip hop get this album.you will NOT be disappointed!
