This guy really gets to the chase about his thesis and the directness is hilarious. I've read close to a dozen books on Christ this year in my quest to find myself and this book was filled with moments I just had to laugh. At the same time this person makes some serious claims and I say this person because I tried to find out who the author really is and could find nothing. I'm suspecting this is a pen name from someone who did not want to get blacklisted from whatever potential Christian community they associate with. I think if you're really reading this and related books the implications of what this all means if correct truly is worth hiding your name.

The Marcion Thesis, Revisited: A God from Hell Kindle Edition
Sorry, there was a problem loading this page. Try again.
Marcion of Sinope (85-160 AD) is generally viewed as the worst Christian heretic. He claimed that there was a contrast between the Old and New testament deities, of light and darkness, good and evil. There is a case that the early Christian church was primarily Marcionite, though as Marcionite beliefs as well as the history of the movement have been been stamped out so completely, it is difficult to say. He was a dualist, and his book 'Antithesis' concerned the contrast between what he saw as the two different deity-systems. All copies of his book were destroyed.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2023A great book! If you think you know what's in your Old Testament, think again, and read it through Seymour Light's eyes. Unmasking the evil character of the creature that we have been told is "God" is perhaps the most important endeavor for the future of our civilization. Although I have researched this topic for a few years, I learned a lot from this book. For example, I had never realized that Yahweh basically fits the portrait of an evil dragon, with his wings (Psalm 17:8, 36:8, 91:4), the “smoke rising from his nostrils, and from his mouth devouring fire” (Psalms 18:8 and 2Samuel 22:9), his lust for gold (“Mine is the silver, mine the gold!” Haggai 2:8), and for young virgins burnt as holocausts (Numbers 31). The author has found the right, detached and humorous tone, to address this most intriguing subject about how this monstrous demon has come to be accepted as God.

Really enjoyed reading this as brought up religiously and certain things never sat right with me. Go over the Old Testament with a critical view point and looking at other evidence total eye opener. Great read!
LNReviewed in the United Kingdom on January 6, 20245.0 out of 5 stars We have needed this book for a long time
I was always uncomfortable when as a child in church we heard about the savage God asking for sacrifices of the first-born, causing terrible plagues and disasters, genocides and destruction, and were then exhorted to love "Our Father" with all our hearts and minds.
Somehow the simplest observation of a bird drinking, a snail munching through leaves, a nest intricately designed and built, the beauty of a cat basking in sunshine, did not tally with the gory details of that "God" and his fearful rules.
So what a tonic to read this little book, where the author examines the God we are told of in the Bible with accuracy, and witty comment. It really is much more fun to read than one might imagine "by its cover" and title.
Not a bit stuffy, a truly refreshing piece of Bible Study.
