I have always been a big fan of the Mario & Sonic at the Olympics. We own all the previous games, so I was excited to pre-order this one. It's one of the few games I really enjoy playing and can still compete against my pre-teen kids (I even occasionally win!).

This version of the game is fun, but it's not as good as I expected. Here's why:

Pros:
-As with all the previous olympic games, I enjoy the dream events. They're made up olympic events that are usually very unrealistic, but fun to play. My kids and I spend quite a bit of time playing them.
-Again as with past versions, mulitplayer makes this fun for up to 4 people. Great family or party game.
-Many events where you can play with or against each other.

Cons:
-The Wii U gamepad is actually a negative thing. There are certain events where you need a Wii Remote, so you have to go back and forth between the gamepad and the Wii Remote. In the end, we just removed the gamepad as player 1.
-You must have a Wii Remote with MotionPlus enabled for certain activites. We only have two MotionPlus controllers since most of our Wii Remotes are ones we've had since the beginning of the Wii, so we ended up passing the remotes (where two people play, and then the other two people play). At least the game does give you the option when it detects only two MotionPlus controllers.
-Not enough new functionality and features.

Overall, I still have a lot of fun playing with my kids on this game, but I am disappointed. I expected more.

If you played the Mario&Sonic Olympics 2010 Vancouver Wii game then with the exceptions of better graphics and a few more games overall it's the same. You have the standard ice sking/slopes/hockey/races and others though again with a vast array of Sega and Nintendo iconic characters that make it much more entertaining and fun to play then what it would be normally. For the going price right now the game is worth adding to the wii u game library but a heads up though for new Wii U owners you will need a nunchuck and wii remote controller for a few of the games here as not all of them can be played with the Wii U gamepad or pro controller. Still you can get those two item for a fairly reasonable price. So for Mario and Sonic fans here's another entertaining title to try out and enjoy.

Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games has some of the best online capabilities on the Wii U, but it unwisely forces use of poor motion controls in almost every mode. For all its competitive elements, including leaderboards, online multiplayer, and downloadable ghost competitors, Sochi 2014 is just too unpredictable to make good use of any of them. There is some fun to be had in both local and online multiplayer, but half of that is the comedy of playing with terrible controls.

I love this game, playing the characters from mario and sonic& miis on the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, it's really fun, it gets frustrated in the first play, but getting used to it, you'll learn how to play better & then gets really fun! I love it also cause it comes with the wii remote plus(w/batteries) the pack, so it's recommended to buy this game for the family!

To preface this review, I bought this for my brother. He grew up on the Wii era party games and he really enjoys this game. I play the game with my brother when I visit and it's kind of like a mario party game without the board and with fewer mini games. I'm giving it 4 stars because of how much my brother enjoys it. Other kids may love it. I grew up in the SNES/GEN area so it's not quite my cup of tea.

My kids love this game. It has lots of events, and it has a game show on it hosted by orbot and cubot (if they watch sonic boom they will know who they are) that is cute and fun. This is a game that will keep them entertained for a long time, also some of the events get the kids off their feet which is what the wii was originally created for.

My 6 year old kid loves this game CD, it keeps him busy for hours. There are times i get interested by watching him play this game and join him and play along. There are quite a few game options which are really good and bit tricky to play or score high. It is costly but totally worth every cent.

Didn't know what to expect. I put the game in and had a blast playing this game. Both my wife and I enjoy the Olympic games and when you add Mario and friends to the list how fun. You can also play your mii character which adds to the game. I enjoy playing my wii u and this is another game I'll be playing frequently. Game on!
