1. the killing of one’s husband.
2. a person who has killed her husband. — mariticidal, adj.
This is a first book by this author for me. I was at a disadvantage as I didn’t know what the title of the book represented, but I had read the blurb and knew this was a book I wanted to read. Once discovering the meaning, it just tied it all together. Powerfully inventive, exciting and full of danger!
~Beware the monsters who hide in plain sight.~
Imagine living in a blissful illusion, blinded by love and trust. Then discovering something so heinous about that one person that you have placed all your faith into for years. And then when that person threatens something you love so dear, what would you do to protect that cherished possession. Alyssa Morgan makes that decision and removes that danger by murdering her husband. Even though she has removed the threat, there is still danger, as evil has many roots that span further than any one person can reach.
Convicted and sentenced to a mental health facility, her doctor, Luke Green believes in her innocence. No one knows of her reasons to commit such a crime, but Luke is adamant in uncovering an explanation and making Alyssa talk. But opening up only brings the monsters out and puts her daughter in jeopardy once again. Can Luke save both Alyssa and her daughter before it’s too late?
I was flipping the pages of this story, faster than a cook flipping flapjacks. I needed answers and the author was holding them closely, only revealing bits and pieces gradually boosting that angst to an extreme high.
Mariticide is brimming with intrigue, drama, action and suspense, winding up with a twist that will flabbergast your mind. An incredible read that I would recommend.
Mariticide is the first book in the Deliverance series by Jo-Anne Joseph. This is the first book I have read by this author and I have already put her on my permanent TBR list. This book grabbed me and wouldn’t let me go. I stayed up till 3am just to finish it. With all the twists and turns, I just couldn’t put it down until I read the end. The characters were complex and really left me with my emotions on overload. Alyssa is a truly strong woman, who knows how to take care of herself and those she loves. Luke was a bit of an enigma to me, but his part in this story really crucial and I thoroughly enjoyed the way he grew throughout the book. This fast paced book had me on the edge of my seat, and the ending blew me away. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Joseph has in store in the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book if your looking for a suspense/mystery masterpiece.

WOW! Just wow! This is a psychological thriller romance novel from Jo-Anne Joseph. If you are in need of a thrilling, intriguing, keep you guessing story Jo-Anne is your must-read author! She has a way of grabbing you and sucking you into this world that she creates with amazingly detailed characters who you can relate to. With stories that are the dark twisted crazy stories that happen behind closed doors. I loved every minute of this page-turner story!
It sucks you in from the first page when Allyssa is standing in the kitchen over her dead husband’s body. Over the course of the book the reader finds out why this seemingly perfect family ended up like this. What secrets did they hide?
And just when you think you figured it all out… Jo-Anne Joseph pulls out a few tricks from her writers head. This book is full of twist and turns and you never know what will happen next.
I read this book in one sitting, so make sure you have plenty of time to read this read this story undisturbed.

The story starts off really well with Alyssa killing her husband and confessing to her crimes as the cops arrest her. The book follows Alyssa's story post the murder with flashbacks telling the story of the reason behind the crime that she committeed. the alternate past and present with short chapters from both her and Luke's ( her doctor's) POV really works for this story and adds to the suspense.
What I loved the most about this book is how there is always a sense of fear, anxiety and suspense embedded in every chapter. This is prominent till the very end BUT what was kept very realistic up until at least 90% of the book loses stean twoards the last 10%. Too much happens and may things are thrown at our face to an extent that it becomes too much to take in. If a more neater and detailed explanation were to have been provided, it could have make up for a rather shocking but unbelievable turn of events. It honestly felt that it was just added to provide for a HEA but it kind of felt flat and just too convenient!! Though it did tie up all the loose ends, it wasn't done in a satisfactory manner. But nevertheless, over-all it was an enjoyable read. This is my second read of the author. (First being Siren) and I will surely be reading more of her books :)
