Hindmarsh put the group through their paces in this book. It was non-stop intelligence gathering, fighting, ambushes, death, and destruction. Yet, with all that going on, it reads as a clean book. Violence is not at the center, nor is it glorified. Foul language and sexual escapades don't appear. There isn't a need for them as the story is exciting without them. There is a good blurb above about the plot above. It's more than I would disclose so I won't try to top it.
As the writing is top-notch, there isn't anything to say that I haven't said in the previous reviews to add here. Wait! I will add this, Hindmarsh writes stronger with each book.
Reading these books was a pleasure, they had me thinking about the possibilities of the enhanced people, the possibilities of corruption, governments, the repercussions for the future, the unanswered questions that are still dangling amidst the action, and how Hindmarsh will answer them. This is series which compels the reader to think and ponder. It deals with ethical questions that could impact all of us.
So, give your brain a good reading experience, then put it to work on what you think. Great series with great writing, in short, outstanding!
This time not only is the life of Mark once again at risk, this time by a real Machiavellian villain, but also those of Anna, the kids, Linda as well as Schmidt.
And now I'm having some withdrawal symptoms. I wonder if a Mark Five might be in the offing?
