Other statistics demonstrate that in your average lifetime you will change jobs -- that is in completely different occupations -- at least seven times. So this means that it is not simply enough to major in some specific field such as management, teaching or biology. One must have a different type of education -- one which prepares you for the disruptive changes that will take place in this fast-paced world -- one which prepares you for world citizenship -- one which prepares you to be a good parent.
And in order to do this, one must be able to demonstrate cognitive and adaptive skills -- the ability to think cogently, critically and creatively, communicate clearly (orally and in writing), network with others within the organization and without, and have a good understanding of information technology. Additionally, you must become aware of different cultures and how economies work -- especially knowledge of the global economy, and at least one, if not two, foreign languages. This work will provide you tips on how to obtain the knowledge and skills to do well in such a world. This book will show you how to get a REAL college education.for today's society.

—Stephen R. Covey, author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness
What distinguishes strategic leadership? According to top U.S. Army generals, the difference lies in the discipline of thinking. Because the problems strategic leaders face are often multi-faceted and can involve ethical dilemmas, these leaders must move beyond thinking tactically and take a longer term, broader approach to finding solutions. Through the U.S. Army War College and other senior-service colleges, the Army teaches strategic thinking to its officers, developing some of the most esteemed leaders of our time.
