It wasn't a cookie cutter book with a fairytale ending. It was more. It was better. It didn't leave me wishing for a different ending - it gave me exactly what I needed.
I received this book as an ARC - but I will be purchasing the official copy. It was that good. I will read this book again and again. I hope Amber writes more books like this. I adore her typical style (and she should never stope writing those!) but this was a different taste - and it was fantastic!!
Colin Wilde was never the most popular guy in high school in fact he was far from being ridiculed for being awkward. But Lennox 'Lennie' Samson was always nice to him even if she was one of the "it" girls. Colin couldn't help himself from failing for her and even after graduating he would still continue to think of her. So when he is struggling to write his novel in coffee shop and looks up to see Lennie walk in Colin knows he can't squander his chance to finally make her his. Especially when Lennie becomes his muse for writing his novel and the words just flow forth. Colin just has to woo Lennie and show her that he's worth a chance if only she'd let down her walls and give him a chance. But Colin too has walls he's built from his past and together they may just fit with their secrets like a perfectly crafted story.
Overall, loved it because its not what I was began to expect but still turned out to be a great read. I knew it wasn't meant to be a romance but it read like one so I was pulled into Colin and Lennie's relationship, however, Colin is no Prince Charming. Lennie may have been the one physically broken but it's clear Colin was the one mentally broken, by no fault of his own, but still run girls run. This is definitely one of those books that will be a reread just so I can look for more signs or clues here and there for the big revelation in the end. So if you are looking for a read that will mess with mind and emotions for a bit as a guy falls for a girl but something isn't quite right with the situation, then you need to read this to see what I'm talking about.

You get the sense that there is something going on with Colin and Lennie, but I couldn't picture it, or even dream the possibility that the book would turn out like this. I didn't see it coming at all. I wasn't sure if a sinister type ending would happen, or if there truly would be a HEA, but I just wanted to help him and give him a huge hug or something. Heck I didn't know what to do or think
This book is so worth the read. I normally don't read books where I'm not guaranteed a HEA, and having to figure out if there would be one, but I'm so glad I read this. You won't regret it. Promise
