Mark R. Millikin has written two books about baseball, "The Glory of the 1966 Orioles and Baltimore" and "Jimmie Foxx: The Pride of Sudlersville." He's also written the booklet, "Babe Ruth Star Pitcher of the 1914 Baltimore Orioles." Mark's new 50th Anniversary Edition of "The Glory of the 1966 Orioles and Baltimore" is a first-time hardcover edition. Mark wrote a new introduction for the hardcover edition that contains new information about the 1966 Orioles that he learned during his recent book talks and book signings for his paperback edition.
Millikin has given many book talks and book signings for each book. He gave the keynote address at the Centennial celebration of Jimmie Foxx's birth in Foxx's hometown of Sudlersville, Maryland in October 2007.
Mark is a native Baltimorean and predicted in March 1966, that the Orioles would win the American League pennant. However, he admits that the Orioles World Series sweep in 1966 over the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers was extra special. He worked as a fishery biologist for NOAA's National Marine fisheries Service for 37 years, and more recently as a fisheries consultant.
He's published articles related to the 1966 Orioles in Oriole Magazine, and articles on Jimmie Foxx, Jackie Jensen, Ted Williams, and Earl Wilson in Red Sox Magazine. He's written articles about Brooks Robinson and Jimmie Foxx for Scribner's Encyclopedia.
