The debate of market socialism has gone back and forth through the twentieth century but the results have proven inconclusive. After 1989 it looked like the issue of markets vs socialism was settled, but now the whole debate must open as the dangers of unrestricted markets in a period of climate calamity become more and more evident. The idea that there is no alternative must yield to the realization that there is no alternative to attempting to reach the other shore, of postcapitalism.

A book that deserves to be read by everyone who are trying to find a solution to captilism's flaws. Since nowadays we live in liberal world, we sometimes have to question ourselves that "is liberalism the same as capitilism, or vice versa?". This book shows that socialism came up with a brilliant idea to sustain itself economically by providing a set of ideas and theories that balance capitalism and communism, which is called "Market Socialism". However, this book is more of a debate (as the title itself shows), in which there are ideas for and against Market Socialism. Now it's all up to the reader's idea of how to see Market Socialism. Two concrete examples of such political and economical theory put into practice are China and the Former Yugoslavia.
