I'd like to give it 4.5 stars, as it is definitely worth spending some time reviewing.
Here are a few quotes worth noting:
On designing and implementing your marketing plan: "A marketing plan for your business should include 3 basic elements. The first is the statement describing your business...(The second is) the who of your action plan...a list of the people you already know who are in good position to recommend your business to their friends and acquaintances. Of course, this list includes a list of your customers...(The third is) the what of your action plan...the list of marketing actions and events that will stimulate the people on your list to actually make recommendations."
On customer purchasing: "Customers want to know how to use your goods and services efficiently. The more honest, easy to understand information and handholding you provide, the more likely they are to purchase.
On return policies when a customer is disapponinted: "Although recourse is a potentially difficult and unpleasant topic, it is at the heart of long term business health because it protects the supportive customers who make personal recommendations. Relatively small efforts, well thought out from the customer's point of view, cost very little and do much in protecting our total investment in public trust. In fact, when you promptly and attentively make sure the customer is treated right, you can gain their loyalty."
On using the web: "Make your home page simple so that it downloads quickly; 60% of web surfers bail from a site in 6 seconds...In designing your home page keep in mind that a prospect delivered there may be looking for something that is another one of the pages on your site. The home page should therefore explain, indicate, or illustrate what other material is available on your site. In effect, your home page is a table of contents for the rest of your website...For marketing purposes, company blogs can be extremely effective in providing expertise and up to date information to an interactive base of customers...In engineering and product development, a company blog can be particularly useful because customer-users of a new product can use the company's blog to describe their product usage experience to the company developers...Expert blogs play an important role in attracting new customers and maintaining involvement with interested customers. Bloggers cross reference each other, providing a powerful and credible voice in the market for your business...A blog is high on the list of public forums for experts."
