I bought one of these because I figured that it would be cheaper than buying a binder every year and that it would last about 4 years or so. The pockets hold lots and lots of music--just enough space to fit the expansive semester's repertoire of the University Singers of the University of Alabama. I also love being able to hold it easily with one hand, thanks to the band at the bottom.

There are two design aspects, however, that bring the rating down for me. For one, why would anyone put the pencil holder where they did? It adds bulk to the pages and can result in bent pages. Instead, I just do what everyone does: I keep my pencil next to my music on the edge of one of the pockets. The other is the band that holds the folder open. The presence of the band makes it extremely difficult to keep the folder lying flat, which makes putting music in and out more difficult. I could also use more elastic holds, but 7 is a relatively large number for a choir folder as it is.

Overall, if you don't mind those two design aspects I mentioned, I would highly recommend this folder! It looks extremely professional and will protect your music well.

I've been looking for a folder that does not require me to hole punch my sheet music. This is a great folder! It came with a mechanical pencil that has its own hanging pocket on the right side of the folder for easy access. There are pockets on the inside of each side and they are pretty big. I have even put my car keys in them for the performances I can't bring a purse to. This is a great price for this folder! Buy it!

My wife and I bought these for a performances that we were having with the Voices of the Commonwealth along with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. The hand strap on the back of the folder, the strings on the inside and the restraining tape (to keep the folder from flopping open made for an ideal folchoral folder for use on a fairly crowded choral riser. The single handed support of the music leave you other hand free for turning pages. These were ideal for our performances and will be useful for future performances.

Others have said it is a great folder, but for me, it just did not work. This looks like a regular binder with an added ribbon at the bottom and elastic bands in the middle, but nothing more than a binder retrofitted as a music folder. Anything heavier than 3 sheets makes this folder lose stability, the flaps turn backwards with weight. I had a hard time keeping this folder's flaps from bending backwards, and this gave me hand-pain after standing an hour fenageling this folder. I finally just went to a music store and got a real music folder.

The picture displays strings as well as binder clips to hold the music. However, once I received it, it only had strings. It words perfectly fine and serves my purposes. However, that was poorly advertised.

The band across the spine helps to keep my hand in an open position. It was getting hard to hold a regular folder open because of arthritis. The piece of cloth keeping it at an ideal angle while singing, is both helpful and an annoyance. It gets in the way when folded flat, but is nice to have while trying to sing. You get used to it, and I won't try to cut it out, as some have suggested. The pockets are roomy and hold several pieces of music, paper clips, tissues, pencil, and cough drops with ease. I don't mind the pencil holder that comes with it, but I like a regular pencil, not a mechanical one, so haven't used it. Overall, it meets my needs, and my joints are much happier!

Only used for one set of The Messiah concerts, but my arthritic hands appreciated the strap and the elastic page holders. I lead a strict choral demeanor with body attitude at concerts and was able to deal with the two-hour discipline SO much better with this folder as compared to the non-strap kind. As with other users, I put my pencil into the pocket instead of the silly placement of a marker holster. I also pried-off the metal corners so they wouldn't shine under lighting, but suggest you leave them on and paint them black if used for weekly performances. When I no longer can sing properly, I will pass it along to those who still can!

One of the classiest, most comfortable folders out there. I have two of the three-ring binder models and one of the string models. I've used one of the three-ring binder version for over a year in singing in a cathedral choir. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the choir as a whole (myself included) have had a problem with the plastic hand straps along the outside spine breaking off. The folder is still usable, but the strap is something I use constantly, and these seem to randomly break anywhere from one to 6 months into weekly use.
