Product Description

    A film noir style picture that is sharply directed by #NeilJordan from a slowly paced screenplay written by #WilliamMonahan and based on the book “The Black-Eyed Blonde” by Benjamin Black. I loved the look of the film as done by cinematographer #XaviGiménezand and would have appreciated the movie even more if the pacing was slightly quicker. Long drawn-out scenes and long dark camera moves.

    The best part of the film is the wonderful touch and centered performance of #LiamNeeson as the title role of the gritty detective Marlow. Seemingly smart, sharp and has been around the block more than once. It’s when he meets #DianeKruger as the story’s feme fatale. Twisting her story with every man she meets. Also driven by her manipulating and overbearing mother played wonderfully by #JessicaLange.

    The film is sprinkled with other shining performances including #AdewaleAkinnuoyeAgbaje as Cedric the driver of #AlanCumming who plays a boastful crime boss Hendricks as well as LAPD Police Chief Bernie Ohis played charmingly by #ColmMeaney.

    It’s a mother-daughter-crime boss- drug-embezzlement story where many get killed for not the obvious reasons. As the motivation is revealed over time, a long time, the real MO becomes clear and the twist is little of a surprise.

    If not for the pacing of the film, I would have gave it a better recommendation for the amazing performances and style this film had alone. Nice film. Nice characters.
