It started when he fed her like she was a child. And when he picked up children he just met.
He really soured for me when he came into her bedroom and climbed in bed with her and her girls. What a huge invasion of privacy. Then she literally had to kick him out to get him to leave.
This novel screams quickly thrown together. There is no real connection with these characters.
The author is a decent writer but there was dialogue that I found very jumbled.
I skipped to the end at the 50% mark.
Ameline has worked hard all her life but it never mattered so much until she became a mother to twins. She trained as a midwife and had many well-known clients. Right before Christmas, she went to go assist a birth. While there, she runs into the man she gave her heart to all those years ago. But he's the Marquess now ... can she risk losing her girls and heart to Virgil?
A beautiful Regency romance filled with all the things you love: conflict, classism, second-chance love and Christmastime. In this story, though, you also experience how difficult and dangerous childbirth was. The history of midwifery is interwoven in this romance which made it such a captivating read. Highly recommend!
I liked it.

I would thoroughly recommend this book.
The romance between Ameline & Virgil did not go as well as he hoped he had to work for it as she had been badly hurt by many false words but they got their in the end.
I will certainly be reading more of her books
