"The Marriage Contract by Katee Robert is dark, dirty, and dead sexy. I want a Teague O'Malley of my very own!"―Tiffany Reisz, bestselling author of the Original Sinners series
"Roberts easily pulls off the modern marriage-of-convenience trope...This is a compulsively readable book! It's more than just sexy times, too, though they are plentiful and hot! It's also the gangster politics, familial responsibility and just the right amount of suspense that makes this a yummy read and an excellent start to a new series."
"Romeo and Juliet meets The Godfather... Unpredictable, emotionally gripping, sensual and action-packed, The Marriage Contract has everything you could possibly need or want in a story to grab and hold your attention."
―Nose Stuck in a Book

About the Author
Katee Robert is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author who learned to tell stories at her grandpa's knee. Her novel The Marriage Contract was a RITA finalist, and RT Book Reviews named it "a compulsively readable book with just the right amount of suspense and tension." The O'Malleys father, Seamus, decides their family needs to seize the opportunity they've been given and inform Teague of his upcoming marriage to Callie. While the two families have always been in a feud, so to speak, they both know there's benefits to the union.
An unexpected meeting between the two leads to the discovery of an intense attraction and the hope that Teague is different from Brendan, which he is. Teague, within seconds of meeting her, shows his concern for her, his protectiveness. What she doesn't know is that Teague has a secret, a very dangerous one, just like she does. However, his comes from the information he passes on to a certain group of people in regards to his father's dealings.
While Teague and Callie strive to make the best of their arranged marriage, their mutual attraction and connection being a huge plus in that area, both families are preparing for war, a war that the Hallorans started in retaliation for losing Brendan.
Can the war be stopped? How many people will each family lose before a truce is reached? Can a truce even be reached? Will Teague discover who killed Brendan? When he does, what will he do with that information? Will he have to choose between his family and Callie? Can Teague and Callie turn their situation into a true marriage, one based on love? *cue Whitesnake with today's earworm - Is this love, that I'm feeling...* What's next for the families? What is going on between James Halloran and Carrigan O'Malley? Hmm...I think we've discovered the next arrangement. Oh man, that is going to be an entertaining "courtship." *makes a mental note to read while eating popcorn*
The overall premise and set up of the story is clever with the 3 main mafia families all trying to secure the upper hand. It provides plenty of opportunity for future stories with other characters and focuses on the importance of family and sacrifice. Still, I had trouble with feeling the intensity of the plot and events, it was lacking on my end such that I didn't get very attached to the characters. And since this is a mafia story, I expected more grittiness or antagonism between Teague and Callie, but they were a fit right from the start without any personality obstacles between them relationship-wise. The next book with James Halloran and Carrigan O'Malley has more promise for that kind of give and take. Not bad for an introduction to a series, because it definitely has the potential to get even better and better.
I love the way this story was well put together and u really loved the way she incorporated a little piece of everyone into the story without steering away from the main characters. Every encounter was crucial to the story line and connected to the next chapter. Meeting under not so normal circumstances and being part of an arranged marriage was Calista Sheridan's worst nightmare but she went through with it to save her family. Being part of the O'Malley family has never been easy and all Teague O'Malley wanted to do was escape his life and never return until he meets Calista. Never in a million years did he think there was ever such a woman for him making it harder for him to walk away. Together they will unite forces and to set things right and save both their families through tragedy and through grief they will over come the curse of their families.
