Most Christian books on marriage today don't have much Scripture in them. Not this one. It is saturated with the Word of God. If you want a book that is built on the foundation of exposition of Scripture, this book is for you. While Scott offers many practical insights, they are all grounded in the biblical text using biblical language. Marriage God's Way will fill your mind with the pure and perfect Word of God. This is what every marriage needs.
Scott T. Brown
Husband of thirty-one years
Director of the National Center for Family-Integrated Churches, and pastor of Hope Baptist Church in Wake Forest, North Carolina
Author of A Theology of the Family
With the divorce rate for believers lagging just behind that of unbelievers, there is no shortage of Christian books on marriage. Unfortunately, few of these books offer lasting effectiveness, because they lack the authority and wisdom of Scripture. Most merely weave together tidbits of human wisdom and pop ideas spiced up with random verses. Pastor Scott understands that strong marriages need more than tidbits of wisdom and pop ideas. He knows that as the Designer of marriage, God gave us His Word an owner's manual. Therefore, in Marriage God's Way, Scott draws upon the authority and wisdom of the Bible to help every couple find the passion, intimacy, and romance that God intended.

Marriage God's Way is a book that will greatly bless your marriage. Pastor Scott combines personal experience, pastoral care, and above all, clear teaching from Scripture to guide his readers into a proper understanding of what God intends for their marriage. In a world where marriage is often considered a hopeless attempt at fleeting happiness, a book like this will give the Christian couple biblical perspective, good counsel, and hope for their future together. If you are looking for help to restore your struggling marriage, or you just need a good reminder of why godly marriages work, this book provides sound guidance, and I highly recommend it to you.

From the Author
I wrote Marriage God's Way using material from almost 25 marriage sermons I preached in 2014 and 2015. My sermon notes are much closer to manuscripts than actual notes.
I took those transcripts and compiled them into a manuscript that was over 100,000 words in length. During the first major edit, the manuscript was brought down to 80,000 words. It was painful to see so much material removed that I thought was good, but the book was definitely the better for it. When Tedd Tripp endorsed Marriage God's Way he suggested taking it down even further to a length people look for in a marriage book. The process of refining and trimming began again, and the manuscript was taken down to 60,000 words (about 225 pages). Again, painful, but again, it improved the book. Now I believe Marriage God's Way is a polished product.
I put about 30 hours of studying into each sermon, which means Marriage God's Way is the result of about 750 hours of studying God's Word, and countless hours of writing and editing. I believe it contains the best information from my messages, and I hope you'll check it out. Allow God's Word to provide you with a Recipe for a Healthy, Joyful, Christ-Centered Relationship.

Scott has done a great job at approaching the topic of marriage from a perspective that is both Biblical and pastoral. The book is deeply rooted in scripture, and draws on God's design for marriage as the standard from which any discussion should flow. However, it is not merely an exposition of Biblical truth. The book is written in a personal and practical tone that helps to answer the "Yes, but how?" questions that so many couples have. Marriage God's Way is great evidence that Scott is a pastor with a genuine shepherd's heart. Not at all "Holier than Thou", this is a book written by someone who has walked the path of building a stronger, more faithful and loving marriage.
As a pastor myself, I often have the privilege of investing in couples who are seeking to build a love for God and each other. Marriage God's Way has earned a place on the shelf in my study as one of the resources I'll turn to again and again. It's also a book I plan to use with every couple who I provide pastoral counseling.
I would be remiss if I did not mention that there is now a companion workbook available to go along with the main text, Marriage God's Way Workbook: A Biblical Recipe for Healthy, Joyful, Christ-Centered Relationships. I've ordered a number of these workbooks, and cannot wait to receive them and start using them in my ministry.
In closing, whether you've been married for decades, or you're just beginning the journey towards marriage, this is an excellent book that I wholeheartedly recommend. It's a refreshing and encouraging read!
One truth stood out to me, “Marriage is the heart of the family. As a marriage disintegrates, the family disintegrates. As families disintegrate, society disintegrates…the truth of God’s Word has the power to heal and strengthen any marriage.”
“Marriage God’s Way” reads like you are having a conversation with a friend, making it easy to understand and put into practice. The truth of Scripture melding with experience makes this a go-to book, one that should be in your library and your church library.
As an Amazon author and a practicing husband for 37 years, I found Pastor Scott’s book fascinating on multiple levels:
First, it has a lot of scripture…which means truth. We need infusions of truth to overcome the lies society confronts us with constantly.
Second, Pastor Scott is passionate about biblical marriage and transparent about his own deficiencies in the past…including a marriage-killing internet addiction he had. NOTE TO READERS: we’re not talking about the addiction the Kirk Cameron character had in “Fireproof.”
Finally, he gives solid teaching on topics many pastors are fearful to touch: authority, submission, and the role of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s marriage, to name a few.
LaPierre goes deep with both men & women, and is not afraid to compel us to action so that the only divorce we face is the divorcing of habitual and destructive thoughts, words, and actions.
Marriage God’s Way goes beyond “don’t do bad things,” to “do these helpful things.”
It’s a “must give” for young newlyweds…to get started on the right foundation. Also for couples in turmoil, so they can rebuild on a sound footing and with clear roles.
I felt like it was very well written, and easy to read. I didn't ever feel lost or confused, and I am not a big reader so that was really good for me. I also really liked the fact that there really wasn't a ton of personal opinions. More just expounding on what God says in His word about marriage, wives and husbands. Breaking down the scriptures, within the context, and helping spell it out for me was really good.
