This book is also pleasantly free from sexual contents, thank goodness, and well written and edited too. I certainly am going to read more from this author. I hope she will do more e-publishing. I see she has a good number of paperback titles, but only a fraction are available as e-books.
This might not be a book for everyone. There are a few historical inaccuracies and the ending wasn't quite as rewarding as I wanted it to be (yes, there is the HEA, but it didn't feel quite as romantic or satisfying as I was hoping for...it's hard to say why), both of which kept it from being a five star story for me, but this is a quirky friends-to-lovers Regency romance.
Enter John, Marquess of Rothayne, the most beautiful man Mary has ever seen. They strike up an unusual friendship as he decides to assist her in finding a suitable match.
I can't find enough adjectives to describe how very much I enjoyed this book; from the wonderful writing, the 2 amazing characters that were Mary & John and the storyline. The bond that springs up between them was totally absorbing to read. Witty, snarky, cheeky, downright poignant and touching at times, this has been one of the loveliest romances I've read this year. This is a clean romance but wholly romantic. Or maybe I should say, all the more romantic because of that fact. And yes I cried at the end - it was a wonderful ending too! I wish I could have the pleasure of reading this book for the 1st time all over again.
My 1st time reading this author & I'm definitely checking out all her books from now on.
