This book is also pleasantly free from sexual contents, thank goodness, and well written and edited too. I certainly am going to read more from this author. I hope she will do more e-publishing. I see she has a good number of paperback titles, but only a fraction are available as e-books.
This might not be a book for everyone. There are a few historical inaccuracies and the ending wasn't quite as rewarding as I wanted it to be (yes, there is the HEA, but it didn't feel quite as romantic or satisfying as I was hoping for...it's hard to say why), both of which kept it from being a five star story for me, but this is a quirky friends-to-lovers Regency romance.
So for plot, not original. But romance is impossible to render in an 'original' manner. It's always and ever 'Boy meets girl. They want/don't want, do want each other, then end up together happily ever after.' So why does this tale merit 4 stars and not 3? The characters. It's always the characters that make you care enough to read to the happily ever after, or even root for it for the couple. They're interesting and they're surrounded with other interesting and believable characters. Best of all, all the other people (minus the jilted groom) are married, so there's no cliff hanger ending, no sequel pending.
