Top customer reviews
It is cheap - so the air vents, and all hardware (screws/handles) are garbage and should be replaced or used without. At this price level you should expect that. You have to figure most of the price is shipping not the materials.
But the cast iron parts are of good quality.
I keep mine coated in canola oil spray to keep it seasoned. I've used it 3 times already this summer and it works perfectly.
I bought it to save on charcoal when just grilling two burgers - but I grilled steaks and chicken for eight people last weekend with no problem.
Would buy again.
This is the right bar-b-que for one to four people. You only need a few briquettes. It is made of heavy cast iron and will last
a long time. Also it is small enough to take anywhere.
It was easy to assemble, although I can imagine that the screws would need replacing from time to time. I found that everything fit together nicely, including the grates. The adjustability of the grates is a terrific help.
Don't use too much charcoal! It is a tremendous temptation to do so. Start the coals in a separate tower and sparingly add them to achieve one layer.
I found that for some things where you might want more of that barbecue taste, or if you are adding small wood pieces for the smoke flavor, you can make it go better by placing over the unit, one of those large aluminum disposable baking pans. It is good also if it rains! :)
Before the first use, I "seasoned" the unit by spraying it with cooking oil and putting it into the oven for a while. I also spray it after use >>when it has cooled and I have cleaned it out.<< This little bit of care should retard rusting.
I am very happy to see the item meets and exceeds my expectations. I'm going to season both grill pieces in the oven tonight so they are ready for cooking tomorrow
