Now, the negative: as a few other reviews have mentioned, the metal wires poke out of the ends after minimal use. I remedied this problem with some heavy duty tape, but for safety I NEVER leave them unattended while they play in this, and check the integrity of the tape after each play session. At $16, I expected a safe and better quality toy. I suggest going to a hardware store and getting plastic tubing or duct work and giving this a pass.
Definitely worth the few extra bucks for peace of mind!
It has to be held by the ends or knotted up otherwise it'll collapse like an accordion. The materials are a rubbery plastic. And hold up well in playtime. It would be difficult to clean when it gets real dirty. If it got that bad I'd just get a new one. So far it hasn't been chewed through but with determined chewers, it won't last long. They somehow know not to chew it, and they just sleep or run through it.

The plastic has an extremely strong smell when opened. Our little London did not want to go in.Read more
