Without extreme modification; such as drilling holes into the dish so I can wire the bottom to a lower point in the cage to prevent flipping, and drilling holes in the sides to also help mount it lower and more securely, this bowl doesn't even come close to solving my issue. Even with modification we are back to digging out of the bowl and ripping the separate lip off. I shudder at the thought of the mess they would make if this was their water dish...
The only reason this doesn't get a lower star rating is because it isn't marketed as ferret specific, and a less actively destructive mind may be thwarted by it.
