The Stanmore is a compact active stereo speaker that yields clean and precise sound even at high levels. The Stanmore classic design is a throwback to the golden days of rock 'n roll, and its analog interaction knobs give you custom control of your music. Hook it up wirelessly via the latest version of Bluetooth, featuring aptX technology, use the RCA input to plug in your record player, or simply connect the coil cord that is included to your phone using the 3.5mm auxiliary input. The Stanmore is also compatible with devices with optical output, like Apple TV. The Stanmore comes with two standby modes: powersaver and standard, to minimize your speaker environmental impact when not actively in use.

12-2016 Here is my update. I had to send this unit in for repair not too long after I purchased it. There was a circuit board that had to be replaced. Unit has been working fine with no issues till last week. Seems that the ability to maintain the Bluetooth connection is degrading. Sounds like the board again. Naturally the unit is out of warranty so now it's a cool looking brick that sits on top of a Cherry shelf. How Nice - NOT! Due to it's size and weight it's not cost effective to send it in for repair. While it does have a 3.5mm input there are issues with using this with the unit located 6.5 feet in the air on a shelf. You have to turn the unit off when the jack is unplugged or the speaker emmits a low frequency humm. I don't want to have to pull out a small step ladder tp access the unit every time I want to take a shower and hear some tunes. Humidity is NOT a factor. The exhaust fan is way oversized for a small room so that's not the root concern. A great sounding product from a great company, however it seems my unit is a lemon. I'll take it to where I camp and use it for an outside speaker till the dampness out there destroys it in a few years. Truly I am dissapointed! If there is an extended warranty offered and you're going to purchase this - GET IT!
However - now after my speaker turned into a brick (it won't power ON, its not bluetooth, just the speaker won't power ON at all) I am really disappointed to say - don't buy this.
I bought it 3-years ago so guess its a "long" time, but Marshall were suppose to last long, and had a charm to it. Unfortunately - you may want to spend $200 on a speaker if you have to replace it every 3-year.
Cosmetically it's as good as you are expecting. It looks good, it feels good. It's heavy-ish but not the kind of heavy that surprised me. The knobs feel OK but just OK. Pairing works well and the pairing sound is not annoying.
Sound... oh man this thing has so many positive reviews about the sound. Well, it sounds like the same overprocessed DSP nightmare as every other bluetooth speaker on the market. It's enjoyable to listen to it but you'll never get that "in the same room with the musician" feeling from it, even on analog line in. Acoustically it's a bit like one of those hyper-real HDR photos, where everything is in the foreground and everything is super colorful and super high contrast. Pretty but not how things actually look or sound.
Anyway I like this speaker, it's OK, that's it, it's OK. I was kind of hoping for a more linear authentic sound but this seems to be what's on the market these days.
