Overall, I really like the case, but there are just a couple design features that make it less than perfect. The first is the hand strap on the back. This is a vertical case and the strap is sewn on vertically, which means you slide your hand in horizontally. To utilize this strap and be able to read, your wrist would have to be bent at an almost 90 degree angle...hardly comfortable. If you really want to use the strap you could always adjust the screen rotation on your Kindle to horizontal, but I'm not going to do that. Seems like the strap is kind of pointless and just adds bulk.
My other minor issue is with the thin elastic strap that holds the front cover closed. The M-Edge case had it attached to the back of the back cover, making it longer and simple to open the case and secure the front flap back when reading. This case has the strap attached to the bottom sides of the back cover, right next to the bottom corner holders. This makes the strap shorter and a little more awkward when opening and closing the case, but that's just a small issue.
The construction of the case is done really well, and the 4 corner straps hold the Kindle firmly in place. I'm not sure what the cover is made of...feels almost like pleather, but it's soft and smooth, and the pink is just like the picture. A good sturdy case that disappears when reading (which to me is the most important thing), and at a decent price...not bad!
1. This is NOT an easel type case. It will not stand on its own unless you lay it on a surface it can
grip. If you're in bed and lay it on the covers, it works great. This is what I do when I get tired
if holding it. Don't set it on a glass table and expect it to stand on its own.
2. You will not be able to read comfortably with your entire hand stuck inside the "handle". I read
with my index and middle finger tucked into the "handle" and my pinky finger underneath the Kindle.
When one hand gets tired, I switch hands. When both hands need a break, I rest the Kindle on my chest.
I used the elastic strap once. I suppose it would be handy when you're traveling, but around the house
it just becomes a nuisance.
Overall this is a very nice, although overpriced (but aren't they all) case. I really like the vertical form factor
for the Kindle Touch.
Breaking in the fold was very easy. Each time I used the stand feature, I first folded the case back completely, and used my fingers to tightly pinch the fold edge all along its length, from the inside of the case. Also, at night, I left the case laying down, folded back completely, with the weight of the Kindle on top holding it in position. After a couple of days of this I could set up the stand at a very wide angle, with no slippage.
In all other respects, I'm very happy with this case. The quality seems high, it's looks nice, and I like the finger-strap for secure one-handed use. It is a bit thicker than it needs to be, but that's a minor quibble. I'm very glad someone finally made a quality case for the Kindle that also functions as a stand!
The color was exactly as expected; the texture is nice, my Kindle Touch fits perfectly, and it is comfortable enough to hold in one hand. However, I specifically chose this cover because of this feature: "Stands your Kindle/Kindle Touch vertically on a flat surface, with thin rubberized strips along the edge adding extra grip". Before purchasing I saw some comments that this was not the case, but I didn't see that many people reporting the problem, so I figured it might be not that big an issue. It was. My kindle has fallen twice because the cover starts sliding down both sides. The hit, while not bad, was definitely something I'd have liked to avoid for my favorite gadget.
So my advice to you is to buy this cover ONLY if you are not intending to use it as a book stand. If you are, look somewhere else.
I've been using this case for 10 months now. My advice? STAY AWAY FROM IT. About 4 months ago I noticed my kindle, the gadget I love the most, now has a thoroughly stained back. The material they use on the cover transfers some color to the kindle. The stains will not come off. I was planning on selling my kindle when the new model came out (Hello, Kindle Paper White!) and because of this case, now I will have to settle for a much lower price. Not buying cases from this maker ever again!!!!
