Mary L. Hamilton grew up at a Christian youth camp in southern Wisconsin. After earning her bachelor's degree in Social Work, she served for one year as a VISTA volunteer in Houston, TX. Since then, she's been a preschool teacher, a caseworker for the Texas Dept. of Human Resources, assistant to the director of a hospital volunteer program, and stay-at-home mom.
Initially, Mary wrote inspirational articles, then went on to write "Homespun Angel," a Christmas play. She is a graduate of two Long Ridge Writers' Group courses and her writing has won awards from ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers), Blue Ridge Mountain Christian Writers' Conference, and Writers on the Storm.
Mary's experiences and memories of camp life provide the inspiration for her Rustic Knoll Bible Camp series. While aimed at ages 10 and up, the books are enjoyed by all ages, especially adults who remember their summer camp experiences. Faith is a strong influence in Mary's life and writing, along with her concern for young people growing up in today's society. She makes her home in Texas along with her husband and a rescued Golden Retriever.
