Mashed Potatoes: A Little Brother Story Paperback – October 19, 2010
"...a sweet tale of a young boy who learns a lesson in self-control. I had a crowd about me last time I read it, as my younger kids, age 8 and down, gathered around to listen. [my son, age 6] was mesmerized..." - Jessica Fisher, LifeasMom.com
From the Author
"Little Brother" was first created by P. Koens for a high school writing assignment in 1992. After it resurfaced again in 2009, C.G. Koens (editor) worked to get the book illustrated, edited, and published.
The original idea behind Mashed Potatoes was to incorporate practical life lessons through Little Brother's adventures and experiences. The story of Little Brother's over-indulgence and disobedience can be used to help teach children about the importance of SELF-CONTROL,OBEDIENCE, and TRUST.

-It conjures up images of how, when we were little kids, we desperately wanted more, more, more of the things we loved (even if they weren’t good for us in unlimited quantities!)
-The disarmingly adorable yet not too sappy-sweet illustrations
-The fact that as the reader, you feel the protagonist’s struggle between right and wrong as he tries to figure out how to respond to his dad after his act of disobedience
-The outer space reference
-The reminder that our “child” spirit, whether we are 5 or 51, has the capacity to dream big, as high as the sky!
It's a book I think any child would love and any adult would enjoy sharing!
Oh, if there were only a moon made of creamy mashed potatoes...
Can't wait to share this with my new nephew!
Mashed Potatoes is a fun book for early readers. It has a compelling story that both children and adults will relate to. Buy it and enjoy.
