Review

THE MASK OF NOESIS is well written, with 3D characters and is spell binding through to the end. The story will keep you on the edge of your seat as Morgan Koda and her friends Tristan, Rex, and Raine encounters a deadly foe. Juls Duncan has created realistic character that you will love to read over and over. I see the Morgan Koda Adventures Series becoming as popular as the Harry Potter series: by J.K. Rowling.

The soon to be outrageously popular Morgan Koda Adventures series, Juls Duncan has solved a dilemma by proving once and for all that kids really can love great books. Twists and turns make THE MASK OF NOESIS, Book one, of Morgan Koda Adventures, in which loose ends are expertly tied and more threads become compellingly unraveled. Part of Morgan's appeal is that she could be any ordinary 12-year-old girl, an underdog readers will root for: small and skinny, with a horrible foster family. She is, however, bright and competent, and a witch.  --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Author

How Morgan came to be:

My daughter loved bedtimes stories, but not the typical ones like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, or Sleeping Beauty. She wanted one of her own, one that we made up. So the character Morgan Koda started more than twenty five years ago as a bedtime story. My daughter learned that only in a book could she go to different worlds where she could be the heroine. She is now in her thirties and is a devoted reader to her own young readers.

In 2006, I met the man of my dreams, and with him came with a six year old son. And Morgan Koda came alive again as she had before - in a bed time story.

But this child was different. He wanted his new step-mother to add something new to the story every night. So Morgan Koda grew as my new son did. When my step-son reached seven years old, he told me that he didn't need to learn to read, because reading wasn't fun nor was it important. So I started writing down Morgan's story - The one story he enjoyed more than any other. I, however, was a little resourceful, at night when my step-son wanted his bedtime story. I would read up to a really good part. Then I handed him the pages to read. Though tears, fits, and just plan angry outbursts, he learned to read.

In June of 2010, I was arranging my files, and to my great surprise, I found that I had over a hundred pages of Morgan's story. And just four months later, The Mask of Noesis was born.

The series now continues with:
The Forest of Carren, A Morgan Koda Adventure, Book Two.
The Other Island, A Morgan Koda Adventure, Book Three.
The Plight of Indy, A Morgan Koda Adventure, Book Four, soon to be released by Mythic Dragon Publishing --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I found this book to be delightful. Being raised in a horrible foster home by Mrs. Ryan for the past twelve years, Morgan finds out something about herself that just might make her life a whole lot easier...she's a witch. After visiting Santa Claus at the mall, Morgan encounters a woman who takes Morgan to see her real grandmother. Morgan's grandmother tells her that she tried to find her when she was born, but it was too late, Morgan had been placed in foster care. Morgan is given the opportunity to go to a magical school, where the kids are sorted into houses by a magical rainbow and where she finds some pretty awesome friends. At the school, Morgan runs into the Dark Emir, an evil sorcerer, who hunts the one with the power to control the Mask of Noesis, an ancient artifact that can seize or manipulate a wizard's magic. When it is reveal to Emir that Morgan is the only one in over two hundred years who can wear the mate to the Mask, he starts hunting her down. She and the Emir race against time for the relic. Who will win? You will just have to read it and find out.
Juls Duncan did an excellent job writing this books. Kudos to her for bringing such joy. Five Stars.

If there has been a gaping hole in your life since the conclusion of the Harry Potter series, then there might be hope for you yet.
Juls Duncan's Morgan Koda Adventure series helps fill the hole left by JK Rowling.

Twelve year old Morgan Koda has never had an adventure in her life, until she hands a letter to a fabled old man - this mythical man leads her into a new world full of mystery, where magic is typical and danger is the norm.

If you want magic, time travel, dinosaurs, wizards, adventure and fun, then look no further than The Mask of Noesis - a fantastic beginning to a promising series of books.

A nicely written story, especially when you understand as the author noted that it started as a bedtime story for children. As you read through the adventures of Morgan and her friends you can practically hear the voice of someone telling you the bedtime story. It is filled with magic, talking animals, and the search for a mysterious relic. Well written and the just the right amount of suspense and plot twists for someone looking for a fun read, also I think it would fit very well for encouraging younger people (8 - 12 year olds) to read a "Chapter Book." I can't imagine a youngster who wouldn't be able to understand the story and find it enthralling.

See "The Forest of Carren". The story is ruined by the translator onto Kindle. Just terrible to see this happen to the author.
