"The Masked Minotaur" is a fairly predictable yet interesting short story about a woman, Odelia, in an unhappy marriage to noble lush, Charlotte. I thought the story's execution was pretty well done and I particularly liked the secrets revealed behind Charlotte's behavior.
What was left a little wanting was the chemistry between the wives. I think we needed to see a little more of what made Charlotte endearing to Odelia all those years (besides her money).
The setting is sometime in the past in a fantasy world where paranormal creatures like minotaurs and fairies exist, though in hiding. But, the focus of the story is really on the relationship between the two wives.
For diversity, besides the minotaur, Odelia's character has light brown skin with black hair so interpret that as you will.
There are two different versions of the story provided. For readers that like explicit sex scenes they can read the first version. For those that want to skip it all together they can read the second version. The explicit scene was written well enough but it was too bovine for my tastes. If that piques your curiosity, though, have at it.
I put his around 3.7 stars.
