Top customer reviews
Plastic isn't all bad, but it's so prevalent in our lives these days, the chemicals alone involved in it's production could just be enough to cause us problems. I've been trying to slowly remove plastic from my food and drink containers and moving over to glass and silicone.
Specifics for this mug:
-The right size. I have small hands, and while it's filling my grip, it's not too big for me to carry one handed with confidence.
-No plastic necessary.
-Large capacity at 24oz. Most glass water bottles I've found are smaller and have plastic parts too.
-Versatile since it's a Ball jar. There are lots of accessories for Ball's jars.
-Condensation - not a big issue for me.
-Lid contains plastic
I paid ~$16 for the jar, which came with the metal rim and plastic lid for use with a straw - I am not using those with this mug. I am using a silicone lid with a straw hole in the middle which I also purchased on amazon for ~$5. I am also using a glass straw which I purchased on Amazon in a pack of 4 for ~$14. All together, this is the highest capacity all glass setup I could obtain for the best price I could afford.
I highly recommend the mug alone, even with the lid if you plan to use it. I have tried the lid with another mug and it is okay, but not if you want to avoid plastic all together. I gave the item 5 stars, because it's a great buy all together with the lid for $16.
I suspect that all you're really paying for is the plastic insert in the lid. The metal outer ring strikes me as the same as any canning jar lid Ive ever seen, and while Im no expert on the size and shape of the jar, I have to wonder if the mouth is consistently sized. Regardless, its a great design and approach, and Im really happy with it.
