Mass Effect Andromeda was a fun game and a solid addition to the ME franchise. Unfortunately, it could have been even better but left me wanting a bit. As always I split my reviews into 3 categories: Story, Gameplay, Characters with story getting more weight
Story: 7/10
I really enjoyed the majority of the story. The main storyline was interesting and engaging. You play as Ryder, a human in the andromeda galaxy that leads the initiative in finding a home (or homes) for the travelers that came from the Milky Way. Each world you settle had it's own interesting story line but some things just left you scratching your head. Why put a giant monster in one world that you can't engage? That's just lazy and sloppy writing right there. Main plot points were never answered (benefactor?? don't really know much about the Jordaan, who are the Kett?). Some of the story lines behind some of your crew were just...lacking..more on that later. Overall the story was good, but there were so many details that weren't finished or fleshed out enough.
Gameplay: 9/10
Here is where the game shines. They've refined the ME gameplay even further and made some drastic improvements. The worlds are amazing, beautiful, and the gameplay keeps you coming back and never gets boring or annoying. The Nomad is really fun. Graphics are great. Battle mechanics are good. Why it doesn't get a perfect score though is there are enough things here that detract from the overall experience. More than a few bugs to deal with. And I really thought the level up system could have been improved. Depending on how much you play you can easily max out your character several hours before the story line concludes.
Characters 6.5/10
Usually in bioware games (at least years ago) the characters and character developments were really a shining point in their games. The first 3 Mass Effect games and Dragon Age 1 really had some great characters. But since then...not so much. The characters were fine. Jaal was interesting I thought. Suvi and Kallo were nice side characters. Drak was fun. But the rest just didn't have a whole lot to offer. None were annoying so that was nice. But I could have used quite a bit more depth. And where were the quarians? Yeah i know their Ark hadn't shown up yet but that's sloppy. They were a favorite of mine. The crew member's sidequests were almost the exact same just in a different location. Very lazy. Peebee's I felt was the best but probably still doesn't hold a candle to the earlier ME's characters and their sidequests.
Overall 7.5/10 Definitely worth playing and I don't think it's as bad as many make it out to be. But at the same time I see where the haters are coming from. If you like the ME series then it's definitely worth a shot but if you've never played one before, it might be better to start with one of the others.

Pros:Combat is great, planet exploration is great, crafting guns is great, Cons: crafting mods that changes the way the guns behaves suck it's worthless story is uninteresting and lame, you can't randomly explore planets, only ones you can explore has to do with the story, all the other planets you want to exlpore you can only look and read info about it. Facial animations is lame the dialog choices is lame and does't have any effect on story. love interest is weird, the girls are just way too easy and unrealistic its like meeting a girl for the first time saying hi and then use a lame pickup line now she is your girlfriend type of weird. Just stick too the old mass effect games, seriously don't waste your money like I did ☹ And dont listen to those reviewers that say the game isnt that bad becauseit is unless you never played the original trilogy. Alot of new generation kids like the game/adults who never played the original like it as well. But I still wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
