Overall, if you are a fan of the first three Mass Effect games, you'll like this one as well. While a lot of the good elements of the original trilogy are present such as exciting combat and interesting story arcs, we also get a few new features that add to the overall experience. For example, a new arms and armor crafting system allow you to customize both the look and abilities of your player character. If collecting and crafting aren't your thing, you can work with the abundance of options available in shops scattered across the new galaxy.
While all of the familiar races make a return in this game, we are also introduced to a few new species, and each one is different enough from any other that it really gives a sense of the vastness of space. All in all, a great game. Would be 5 stars if not for EA/Xbox screwing up the release.
It's enormous, both in terms of quest and setting. I could only stand to play it through once- now just thinking about all the side quests and fetch quests I'm going to have to do to finish the game makes me too tired to even imagine playing it through again. The characters require 30 hours of playing to really get attached to, and even then, some of their loyalty quests are a labyrinth of interconnected fetch quests with the NOTABLE exception of Liam's and Vetra's, which I finished very early. The loyalty quests are the only redeeming quality of this game- Liam's is honesty comedic gold, and Peebee's, even though it's a pain and a half to actually conclude, was also great. It had its moments but in my opinion it's unreplayable due to the mass amount of irritating side quests.
The overall game as a whole is worthy of a four star rating, because there was a lot of content to "consume" and the escapism factor was amazing. Those were really the only two positives in a sea of negatives. I really, really wanted to love this game, but the magic just wasn't there.
