Story - I'm not completely finished with the game, because I'm a completionist and will leave no stone unturned, but between the side quests & main story line I am just as hooked now as I was when I began the game. Are the side quests as good as the main story ? Of course they are not, but they are not a mundane task that I have to trudge through, I have actually enjoyed the majority of every side quest and main story missions. You have to remember that this game is an RPG, and like any RPG there are side quests to complete that are there to fill this huge game with various side story lines & tasks, not to mention that every quest you complete helps to forward the development of your character and leveling up. If you have played the previous titles you will know what to expect here. As I said before, I have not completed the game but am absolutely loving the story so far, as far as I can tell, I'm approximately 3/4 of the way through with 80 plus hours in. I'm sure you can complete the game a bit quicker, but I enjoy taking my time with games like this and exploring every facet of it.
Graphics - This is a BEAUTIFUL game !!! Anyone that disagrees needs their eyes checked or their eyeglass prescription updated. I've seen the complaints and some have even said it looks no better than Mass Effect 3, well as much as I love the originals they don't have nearly the polish and detail this game has. Andromeda looks like a current gen game, not an Xbox 360 or PS3 title. The game runs on the Frostbite engine that runs Battlefront & Battlefield One, If you have played those games then you know just how beautiful they are and Andromeda is no exception. It's a stunning game that will not disappoint.
Voice Acting - This is a AAA title, and with most titles of this caliber it has great voice acting, there are the occasional moments that could have been better but ALL games have that. You can feel the emotion while the characters are speaking and helps draw you in and keep you immersed into what is going on within the game and moment.
Characters/Animations - This has been the biggest complaint from most people about this title. Most games these days are developed with Mo-Cap ( Motion Capture ), but this game was not. Every character has completely computer rendered movements and facial expressions. I did notice this, but it's not so bad that it detracts from the gameplay and story line. After an hour or less of playing I completely forgot about it. The story, gameplay and voice acting completely shadows this one short coming. Do I wish it had been done differently ? Yes, but it would not and did not deter me from purchasing this game.
Conclusion - In my opinion this is an outstanding Mass Effect entry, I love it and will be playing for quite a while to come. The only shortcoming I could see was the character animations, and certainly is not a game breaker or deal breaker for that matter. You will forget about this one small problem because it's simply not terrible anyway and is completely shadowed by every other goodness packed into Andromeda. PLEASE, don't believe the naysayers and play the game yourself. Youtube and the like will only highlight the negatives because they are looking for the clicks on their videos and want nothing more than to stir controversy. I cannot stress to you enough, TRY THIS GAME FOR YOURSELF !!! One small misstep with character animation is simply not enough to detract from the game or to remove a star, the over all package is outstanding !!

There have been a few updates since release that have fixed some of the issues, especially with the facial animation, but I had already gone through 2 playthroughs before the patches so I haven't really seen the changes fist hand. This is a Mass Effect game, but no one would fault you from believing it was a Mass Effect clone developed by a B or C team. The polish just isn't there and there are a slew of annoyances throughout the single player campaign.
Maybe it was my longing to play another science fiction Bioware game, or maybe I just didn't mind the issues that much, but I put in close to 100 hours over 2 playthroughs and a handful of multiplayer matches and really did enjoy the whole experience. I had a few crashes on Xbox One after playing for extended periods of time (8+ hours), ran into a few bugs that forced a console restart, and surely noticed quite a few graphical glitches - most of which were at least humorous. That is why I have removed one star.
The only reason I played on Xbox One instead of PC or PS4 is that I have played the original trilogy on Xbox 360 and was hoping for some kind of loyalty bonus. I was NOT rewarded with anything that I can remember except a "loyalty" loot box for multiplayer. I replaced my Day one Xbox One with a Xbox One S just a few weeks before Mass Effect was released hoping I just had a bad original. Unfortunately, this generation of consoles has me leaning on Playstation a bit more, not to mention my beastly PC. That is a conversation for another place and time...
The latest news and scuttlebutt claims that the project changed direction several times, teams were understaffed and that the publisher pushed the development team especially hard in the final months of development. It also sounds like the "A" team was pulled early to start developing a Destiny-like shooter/RPG called "Anthem" and that Mass Effect is going back on the shelf for a while. If any of this is true, It's too bad that Mass Effect:Andromeda wasn't given priority by Bioware and EA. I only hope that if and when they do bring it back, it gets the attention it deserves.

#BEAST BOY SHUB KI BEAST ARMY
As for the game itself, I heard a lot of bad reviews when it was released due to glitches, bugs, and such problems. But before I purchased it I watched some “one year later” reviews. From those reviews I gathered that such problems are vastly fewer. My own experience with the game reflects this. I have experienced a few freezes, some loading hiccups, and a few glitches in many hours of play, but the autosave has always put me no more than a minute back in the few cases where I had to reload or restart. For a game of this level of vastness and complexity, I find it to be very well put together.
Speaking of vastness and complexity, while the game isn’t completely open world, it is very much in that vein and is the kind of game where you have a lot of possible goals and courses of action and you can focus on following the main story with few side quests, or do every little task, drive around exploring weird ruins, or just go out looking for a fight or loot. I’m kind of all of the above because it’s all enjoyable.
I’ve read that a few people found the characters shallow, but I find that I enjoy talking to the teammates in Andromeda a little more relaxing than in ME: 2 and 3. I’m not saying they’re better or worse, but they are definitely less prickly.
I can’t guarantee that you’ll like this game if you liked ME: 1-3, but I loved them and I love this. If it helps you make a decision I am an SF reader and fan of open-world games. I often want to like JRPGs but find I lose patience with them more easily now that I am a busy adult.
