The solid base, hefty weight, accurate molding, everything is awesome on this. Right up to the paint job, where it drops a whole two stars.
Honestly, It's not that bad. Sitting a foot or two back you can't even pick up on any issues. However upon closer examination there are noticeable flaws with the paint job. Many of the lines are not clean, patches of color were not finished, overall not a top quality job.
That said, in my opinion, still a nice piece and easily worth $10-15. The problem obviously being it's going for like $25-35
This was very similar to Matchbox Star Wars items, with similar quality. As a niche collector's item it does the trick, I just expected a little more.
Still going to keep it, but 3 stars for just ok
P.S. The Box is so nice I'm keeping it but also because if I need to move the model ship will be safe.
I thought this model was perfect until I saw something absolutely terrible...
The entire front half of the ship, from the hangar bay ramp forward, is bent off to the port side. I will upload a photo so you can all see what I mean. There is at least a 8 degree difference in the tail and the bow. I have seen this problem before on second rate wooden ship models, but never with this severity. Now, every time I even glance at this model I can't get over it. I'm actually having a hard time deciding which of the 2 models is worse.
Apart from that small (and by small I mean HUGE) issue, this model is fine. I haven't put it through the durability ringer and don't intend to. Going through the reviews, it seems that I'm the only one to have this problem (or maybe just the only one to notice it).
All in all it's not that bad, but seriously BioWare. Please leave the modeling up to Zvezda or Revel. If you're ever thinking about making more models or figures (that would be interesting...would like to see some from BSG as well), please give the professionals the rights to make them and just keep working on what you're good at- games. I recently saw a commercial that said "You wouldn't want your doctor doing your job, so why do his?" Same kinda thing here.
