I'm a prop maker, and I know quality when I see it; and this little rover is top notch as far as craftsmanship and assembly go. The detail is incredibly crisp, and the lights look absolutely awesome and add a new dimension to the product. The little lit panel inside is activated when a door is opened, and to me this shows that the developers put a lot of thought into the execution of this product.
The wheels - which are arguably the sexiest feature of the in-game Nomad, are incredibly well detailed as well; the rubber is made out of - well, rubber, and the rims are "chrome" coloured plastic. The front and back wheels are fixed in the forward position, and cannot be turned. This would have been a nice feature to have, but I'm ok with how it is, too.
At first I was contemplating the remote control (RC) Nomad, but after watching numerous unboxing videos on YouTube, I got the diecast version which seems to be better detailed and more accurate to the in-game version of the vehicle. Having to forego the RC components, the developers were able to focus more on accuracy than real world function, which made metal construction, opening doors, and the lit panel inside possible (all of which seem to be missing from the RC version). So, I went with accuracy in this die cast version instead.
The steel book included with the bundle is well made and quite pretty in and of itself, but being the casual gamer that I am, it holds little value to me personally. So even if this product came without it, the Nomad model alone would have been well worth the money to me.
All in all, this is a great purchase for those wanting a well-made, accurate replica of the Mass Effect Andromeda Nomad, and a steel book game case. However, be prepared to buy the game separately if you haven't done so already.
It's very heavy so it's not really meant for a small child to play with so if you want one for a small child there's a version that's about 10.00 and about the size of a large Hot Wheels car.
What ticks me off is I now see it's $30 cheaper than when I ordered it before release! WTF? Kinda not fair to those of us who truly were the best customers and pre-ordered one. I have learned now to wait. Thanks Amazon!
A must buy for every hardcore mass effect fan (I've bought two) and also the more casaul fan would enjoy it
