Already played all 3 games on ps3 but its great to have these remastered for the new hardware. I'm about 5 hours into the first game and so far every thing has been really good. Very noticeable uptick in graphics and combat. Purchased directly from Amazon. Shipping was good and ps4 game was new and undamaged. You get the first three Mass Effect games plus all the dlc on two discs.

First off, let me just say I am a veteran of the XBOX 360 version of the game. I played 1, 2, 3, and had all the DLC for 2 and only "From Ashes" from ME3. For anyone new to the series, this game does stand out as a legend. Think along the lines of Star Wars, Babylon 5, and Battlestar Galactica, and you got something similar in story (and in some ways better). This is a third person shooter with a lot of role playing elements that get carried over from one game to the next. Can't get the full feel of ME3 without playing the first two (not to mention you would miss things that carry over). Another thing is that its 3 games for one price (and all the DLC). And this is not just 10 hours for each game. Try 40 hours for each game. Good price for newcomers. For veterans, this is what I think.

In general, the biggest improvement is this - NO DISC SWAPPING. XBOX 360, you had to switch out the discs at a certain point in the game - And don't even get me started on how often it was with ME3 (I think my XBOX tray broke because of it). Legendary is on two discs. One to install some software, Another for the game. Continuous 120 hours of play! I Love it!

Now to the game

First ME1. A noticeable improvement concerning graphics. But more importantly an improvement on gameplay. I don't know how to describe it, but there was something "off" about the targeting in combat in the XBOX 360 version as well as the combat. In this one, combat is more streamlined and accurate. I regret to say there are still those Mako (the tank) missions, but I guess you can't have Mass Effect without Mako missions. Oh well. Only one DLC: Not bad and a definite improvement on standard Mako missions. The equipment menu is still the same unfortunately, but still okay. Overall: a definite improvement.

ME2: A lot people say its the best. I can't say I saw any improvements - but what could you improve. The DLC quests Overlord and Shadow Broker are excellent. Arival DLC-Story not very good, but still okay. All other DLC are add-ons, but nice. Overall: No change to the game, all DLC, and still fun to play.

ME3: I found out the hard way that DLC weapons need to be bought now. NO! Not with real cash! With the credits your character earns. Unfortunately, my favorite sniper rifle, the Valliant, costs an arm, leg, and first born. It is possible to get it on the first play thru, but it is expensive. I had to use the Black Widow (which is now cheaper than the XBOX version). I was still playing at time of this review, but I have to say its nice to play WITHOUT SWAPPING DISCS (Rejoice!). I played Leviathan and Omega DLC for the first time and loved it. Working on Citadel DLC but looking forward to it. Load times are also a lot faster. They are still there, but you don't get much time to admire the scenery like the XBOX version (major plus). Another plus: NO MULTIPLAYER. I hated that part of the game and how it affected the single player experience. Good move to take it off (It was terrible to begin with). Overall: No multiplayer, No Disc swapping. All DLC. Only negative is having to buy DLC weapons (with credits), but there are a lot of guns to choose from (each different in their own way).

Overall end review: Good game to get for veterans wanting to experience Shepherd's legacy all over. For new comers, DON'T MISS THIS ONE. A little warning, Mass Effect 1 is a little slow in gameplay, but the story draws you in. It kind of feels like Star Trek. Mass Effect 2 and 3 are more action oriented and worth playing. I would have to say they were more Star Wars (especially ME3). The game said legendary edition on it. Well, in my books:

I remember my first time playing this was on the ps3, and only played Masseffect 2 complete edition. I platinumed it and was hooked. What a mesmerizing experience. I played some of Mass effect 1 but life happened and was not able to finish it.After many many years later, with this franchise in my head, finally came back to it.

Gotta say this trilogy LOOKED beautiful, because I remember I playing part one (some of it) on ps3, and the difference was HUGE.
Either way, you gotta be a bit forgiving since these are old games anyhow. I finished this trilogy through and through and this was amazing. What an amazing experience. What awesomeness Mass Effect really is. The depth, the fun, the story, the characters, the silly love scenes, the action, the suspense, the plot, I mean, this game has it all.
Truly a Masterpiece of a game. Like I said, it is old, but in the future, if and when I have more time, Id love to platinum this all if possible even as an old man with gray hairs hahaha.

Will be revisiting this game down in the future to see different endings and stuff.

I've probably written 5 amazon reviews in the last decade. This will be the 6th. I knew that Mass Effect had a massive fanbase and was hailed as one of the best gaming trilogies of all time, but I had never played them myself. I was a huge Dragon Age fan though, so while all my friends were saving the galaxy, I was fighting dragons and casting spells. However with the Legendary Edition I decided to finally take the leap and play through Mass Effect. The result? I cannot believe I waited this long. I found myself sitting at the end of ME2 just thinking "how have I not played a game this good all these years? Then, around the halfway point in ME3 the game takes a turn and goes from "great" to "actually legendary." When it ended....I just sat there stunned, shocked that a game actually lived up to the hype. Please play these games. I don't know that I've ever cared about video game characters more, or been as emotionally impacted by fictional characters in a long time. Do it!

Performance wise: I was playing on a Base PS4 (not the pro) I bought in like 2016. All 3 games ran mostly fine, with only maybe 2 glitches and 1 crash the entire play-through.

ME1 is definitely dated, this is where you'll feel that the most. Graphics are older, particle effects, etc. However Bioware has updated the gunplay and tweaked some things so its not terrible. I actually had a ton of fun even though it is as dated as it is.

ME2 feels pretty much like a PS3 Port playing on PS4. A tiny bit choppy in some places, but for the most part graphically holds up and is amazing.

ME3 felt literally like it was released last year. Graphics are great (not amazing), gameplay smooth and performance essentially perfect.

This is probably my favorite video game that I've ever played. Mass Effect tells an incredible story over three games where your choices do matter and have an impact on the final game.

But what makes this game so special is the relationships that you develop with the characters. This game has received multitudes of awards for its creative storytelling, voice acting, character development, lore, and fighting mechanics. The work that was done on Mass effect 1 to bring it up to 2021 standards is appreciated and makes the game much more tolerable to play. Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 are just incredible although the lack of multiplayer for Mass Effect 3 which was in the original rollout is sorely missed.

It was so much fun to revisit this game and play it again with my favorite characters. I cannot recommend this enough. A great way to hunker down during the pandemic.
