I like the screw-on tire hose tip. It is easy to screw on and take it off without losing air, just push it down onto the tire valve while screwing it on or off. Much better than the clip-on style of hose tips.
We bought it because my SUV and sedan tires had slow leaks and we were spending $0.75 to $1.50 every two weeks to fill them up to operating PSI. The mechanic said we had to clean the wheel rims and remount the tires in order to stop these slow leaks. At a cost of $15 per wheel (x 8 wheels), this pump paid for itself immediately.
I would buy this product again.
I had to buy a different one from a local automotive shop since we still had to travel to the Grand Canyon. It was a great disappointment that this failed to work after only one use.
The compressor also comes with a plastic cup that protects the face of the gauge when it is in storage - a nice touch.
The gauge was a little inaccurate, reading 2-3 psi higher than the actual pressure in the tire, but this is within the tolerances printed on the face of the gauge.
I keep this in my car for emergencies, and I am considering replacing the older plastic-cased compressors I keep in my other cars with this compressor because it is so nice and quiet.
It's wonderfully compact and works well with exception.
Why does it have to be screw on valve!?!
I also went through 3 of them. First one just died, I assume because overheating, but I didn't use it much and was careful not to leave on for extended periods. Maybe just defective out the door?
The others... well as people have said they get you on the darn hose. It melted and fell apart at the connector.
Why couldn't they put a better quality hose?
Edit: 12/7/16 - I determined that the pump kept blowing the fuse associated with the cigarette lighter in the vehicle. If you have an accessory port, not used to light cigarettes, it doesn't blow the fuse. If you have trouble blowing fuses, try a different port.
