I loved Maksim and Cat. The sexual chemistry between them was off the charts from the very beginning and as their story progressed we see that the chemistry extends much farther than the physical and sexual, although that is always something that burns hot between them, and it just shows that they are meant to be together. Separately, I have to say I think I love Maks just a tiny bit more than Aleks, they are both so similar in their “I am the Alpha, you will do as I say” personalities, and both had a lot of darkness in them, but there was something about Maks and his vulnerability that when it came out just had me melting for him, even though I did want to smack him a few times. But then there is Cat and that hot mami stole the show. It takes a lot for me to crush harder on the h of the H/h but Cat did it. She’s vivacious, intelligent, strong, funny, sassy and she owns herself. She doesn’t back down from what she wants, even when Maks was doing his very sexy Alpha dominant thing, Cat owned her sexuality and herself and was very much apart of all that was going on and I loved being in her head and experiencing her risk/reward debates.
While much of the book is focused on Maks and Cat’s relationship, there is the little matter of Cat and her past. I thought it was played out well and didn’t mind that while it was in the forefront of Cat’s mind, it took something of a back seat in the big scheme of things.
We also get to catch up with Aleks and Natalie and be at their wedding and it was wonderful to not only see where they are at but to get to have a little interaction with Aleks and Maks and see how their relationship is progressing. And of course there is Jess. LOVE her. I do hope she gets her own book because she’s just amazing...maybe her and Dmitri? The again maybe not because they may go totally nuclear on each other, especially afterlearning just a little more about what happened to Maks and Dmitri, but if anyone can pull it off it would be KC.
Cat is caught in her own lies and Maxime's distrust, learned from a terrible childhood. Maximize can't get enough of her so coerces her to stay with him until after Christmas until his brother Alecks marries his American girlfriend in Nebraska after Christmas. She thinks he will end their fling when he leaves for the wedding so that she can follow through with her plans to take the final exam for her last class and then move to another city. Fate has other plans.
This book is packed with steamy scenes, drama and danger. I could not put it down.

Cat is running from a bad situation and so far the rules she lives by have saved her. Now she just needs some cash to help her get out of Miami. With a friend’s connections, she takes the one night only job of temporary escort for a Russian billionaire. What she didn’t expect was to find it so much more than she expected.
Maxim has a history that has left him physically and emotionally scarred. He has a script that he uses when he hires an escort and he only hires escorts. However, when Cat, who is nothing like the type of woman he hires, shows up and rearranges his evening’s plans he finds himself wanting more of her.
This was a completely engaging read and I resented any time I had to set it aside for little things, like life. I loved this couple so much! I missed not having Maxim’s point of view but it was easy to see how he felt and where he was going. Actions speak louder than words. Cat was an awesome heroine. Her characters was so well developed I felt like I had known her my whole life. She was tough and capable but not rough and ragged. I wanted for her to be free of her past and find all her happiness with Maxim.
This was a relatively angst free read and it ticked several of my boxes for a favorite book. I’m not a big fan of BDSM so I was pleased that they didn’t dominate the story. They were actually quite trivial.
This book was read as a part of a GR challenge as well as book one. I never expected to want to continue to the next, but I will definitely be doing so.
