Perfect for the Beginning Lock Picker

I purchased this lock for the purpose of improving my lock picking skills. There are only four pins to defeat to open the lock. Almost immediately I got a feel for how to rake the lock open. Raking will pop the lock within 30 seconds, most of the time. I'm still practicing single pin picking on this lock but that's increasingly easier. I would highly recommend this lock to anyone who is in their beginning stages of learning to pick locks. It's a sturdy mechanism so you will not wreck the lock with aggressive raking. You will master opening these locks in a short time, but you will learn some fundamental skills in the process.

Classic design, 2 keys included. It has a smooth action when the key is put in, as opposed to other cheaper locks that have a "gritty" feel. Keyed locks are nice so you don't have to remember a combination, and the banded design helps prevent drilling or shooting through the lock.

First off let me say that this is a very cheap and low security lock. I bought it to practice lockpicking and it is by far the easiest lock to pick I have ever come across. It is a good cheap lock for gym lockers and things of that nature, but do not rely on this to protect any valuables.

Other people say this is a bad lock, but good for lock picking beginners. I may have just received a bad lock, but my complaints are echoed in other reviews; the manufacturing is so poor that this lock is more difficult to pick than a better made, but more difficult lock, like the 140. I have only been picking for several days now, and have made significantly more progress on my 'more difficult' locks, I think simply due to how they provide more feedback, don't 'float', and require far less force and prep (many people report needing to lube this lock).

Oh, and the real kicker is that, after not being able to pick this lock open after many, many hours of attempting, I discovered it doesn't even work with the key! Did I ever even stand a chance against this lock? So discouraging...I'm out the money as I can't return a lock with 10+ hours worth of beginners picking scars all over it. Spend the extra money and buy something that's not a piece of crap, whatever you're going to use it for, this thing is garbage through-and-through.
