i really like the three levels. i put fresh vegetables on top with fish, the rice bowl in the middle and some yams on the bottom. i started the rice and yams, then 50 minutes later added slipped in the fish and veges level. It was all perfect! The timer worked fine but you have to keep an eye on the water level as there is no audible alarm when it gets low. it is easy to add water during cooking that does not interrupt cooking. Biggest plus is that this steamer cooks an entire meal quickly and is dishwasher safe on the top rack. Pieces fit together nicely.

We love this Master Chef 3-Tier Steamer and use it almost every day. One thing I discovered is to never add water just because it is at the low limit because water is stored on a second level being the first black thing before the food inserts. I fill to the max level first time and set the timer for one hour with most food but never add water even when the warmer is on by the green light.
Oh! use only distilled water or the heat element will get covered with calcium much like a coffee maker or close iron----about five gallons per week for use two.
I only rinse the unit out after use because steam will kill and bacteria on the next use.

Having used steamers happily for many years, I was a little disappointed that the Master Chef took so long to warm up. The starting procedure was a little complicated. Having been used to a mechanical starter which was On or it was Off by selecting how long you wanted the steamer to cook, the Master Chef, being digital, had a mind of its own and took its time to react and cook. It took 45 minutes to boil potatoes which was 20 minutes longer than I am used to. Personally I would buy a mechanical starter next time. Also, I believe the Master Chef was rather expensive for its quality.

I had been thinking of buying a steamer for some time when I came across this one. There are so many out there to choose from so I narrowed it down to this particular one and got it. So far......it has performed just as advertized. It has three tiers for steaming a larger quantity of food or you can just use one section for smaller portions. It also has a container for steaming rice. I really never thought of steaming rice, but it works out really good. There are some foods (to me), that just taste better when they are steamed. And ,of course....it is a lot more healthier for you too. I do hope this product lasts me for awhile, but I'll just have to wait and see. It is also real easy to clean when your done with the steaming. No hidden areas that will trap things you can't see to clean. Thanks.

I was hoping that it would be similar to my old steamer or better but, sadly, it was not.
- When it's done, it lets off a weak beeping noise and that's it. So if you miss that sound because you stepped away for a second, you're not getting another alarm so it's very easy to over-steam food.
- You have to keep the manual or you wont know how many mins you need to set it for to steam whatever it is you are steaming.

I spent a little extra for this steamer but it wasn't worth it.
