Lifetime professional landscape edging is made with contractor strength materials, has built in grooves that provide super holding power and resists frost heave. No worries for a lifetime, guaranteed. No stakes required. Made from 100% post consumer recycled plastic. Master Mark Plastics has become a premier name in lawn, garden, and building supplies throughout the world due to the fact that we are one of the largest and most experienced recyclers of HDPE plastics. High Density Polyethylene plastics, which include hefty weight materials like milk jugs, detergent containers, juice and soda bottles that do not easily disintegrate. Therefore, this garbage would last many years in a landfill. Our recycling operation takes this plastic, grinds it up, sterilizes it, and treats it for further use in our lawn and garden products and composite decking materials.

The only other edging that I've worked with has been Cobra construction grade edging, which was manufactured many years ago. I got that from a retired landscaper who explained to me that Cobra was the best stuff when he was in the business. Compared to Cobra, I would definitely have to say this Master's Mark Lifetime Edging is definitely a little better specifically at making a nice sloping curve and just in general getting it exactly where you want it to go without coiling up and shifting.
I was able to do a nice 40-foot straight section with this. This type of edging in general is known to be good around bends, but straight lines it generally tends to be harder to put very straight compared to metal straight edging. This Lifetime product performed extremely excellently both in curves and in straight lines!
Pick up a few of the straight connectors if you plan to do a couple rings / circles with it, as the edging comes with one connector only. Try to arrange the edging to place the connectors out of sight, and preferrably in a straight section of edging (not curve) and it will look more professional.
If you want to do a 90 degree corner, get the connectors that let you put two pieces together at a sharp corner.
It does take some time and muscle to install. You have to dig a trench, then put the edging in and then backfill with the soil. Eliminating the needs for stakes saves some time - not a ton.
I've been impresses so far with its ability to resist upheaval from freeze/unfreeze cycles. I've had mine in since last fall and even after the winter it is still right in place which is impressive considering there are no stakes holding it down.
There weren't any reviews when I first got it, so I wasn't sure what I would be getting in terms of quality, etc.; but i can say I've been exceptionally pleased with it. I will post some pictures.
Also; one tip I have is to cut the 3 fasteners that hold it tightly coiled as soon as you receive the product to let its coiling / spring capability relax a little bit; then the day of or day before you install it, lay it out flat for several hours to prevent it from coiling up on you. If you leave it out straight in the sun, that's even better bc. the warmth will help it relax.
It is definitely easier to dig a trench during the spring for me because the ground has some moisture to it (at least in PA). Slightly after a rain-fall works well after it's dried just a bit. Fall season isn't bad, but if you're digging up grass, the roots are very strong after the growing season. Summer is tough because the ground gets so dry that it makes it tough to dig.
I definitely highly recommend! It gives a very polished / professional look to your yard / garden. I've been getting very many compliments on it.
I was a little confused by all the different edgings that Masters Mark offers, so I called their headquarters and spoke with someone there. Here is what I found:
Essentially, contractor and professional models are the same, but contractor is bigger / deeper.
Lifetime has the bead same as contractor but don't need stakes (can use stakes if desired)

Please see my pics of the installed products!
- It's very high quality and thick plastic. It's been stepped on and hit with the weed wacker and still looks new!
- 40 feet of this quality material for the price is hard to beat.
- No cheap spikes that break when installing.
- It's a chore to install it. Leaving it out for a few sunny days and working with it over the course of a week to get it close to the shape you want it helps, but plan to spend a fair amount of time getting it into the ground. You also need to dig a narrow trench to fit it into.
While I'm happy with the product and the results, I've had other products that work equally as well and I was able to install much easier. I fully expect it to last a LONG time, and I'm happy about that because I don't want to install it again. Would I order it again? Probably not. But it does do it's job well.
