Even though The Master can be read as standalone, all The Submissive Series has a continuity. Sasha and Cole met back in Seduced by Fire right after Sasha had an awful experience with her ex-dom Peter. Even though Sasha wasn’t in the right frame of mind, she felt a pull toward Cole that left her thinking that maybe one day she could practice BDSM again. Due to the positive but brief encounters Sasha and Cole had during the other books of the series, Abby, Nathaniel, Jeff and Daniel decided to accept Sasha’s request of being retrained and they assigned Cole to this delicate task. And that’s when The Master begins.
Cole had a reputation to be the hardest and coldest of all the dominants in the Partners in Play group. He had the highest standards for a submissive, expected always the best behavior of her. So when he accepted to retrain Sasha, he put one limit: N O S E X. And they started that way. Sasha was always attracted to him. Even when she was scared to death after the incident with Peter, she felt that warmth in her belly when she was near Cole, and when she was informed that he was going to retrain her, she was equally scared and aroused. The beginning of their training was slow, but that pace was needed. He needed to gain her trust and she needed to trust him, so the rule of n o - s e x was the best for the retraining.Read more ›

I fell in love with her writing and characters in The Submissive and I don't see that love stopping any time soon. Sometimes it can be hard to love secondary characters as much as the original characters such as Nathaniel and Abby. Those two will forever hold a special place in my heart but Tara writes the secondary characters into these novels so well that you actually look forward to their own book. Sasha and Cole were no exception.
Sasha was so closed off after her incident with Peter that she began to wonder if she could even be a shadow of the person she once was. When it comes to the BDSM lifestyle, trust is key and she felt that she had completely lost her ability to trust anyone, let alone the overpowering and domineering Cole. But Cole was the perfect person to help release Sasha from the shell that she put herself in.
Everyone in the group was worried that Cole would be to much for Sasha to handle but once they saw her entire demeanor change, they realized that he was the perfect person for her. Then everyone noticed that Sasha was the perfect person for Cole as well. Even Cole started realizing this but felt that Sasha needed more experiences with other Dom's to be sure. He didn't know that pushing her away would make him feel like he couldn't breathe without her.
I can't wait to see what wonderful stories and experiences that Tara Sue Me will bring to us next. 5 Stars is never enough for her books.
In this book, #8 in the series, Master Cole Johnson has been chosen to retrain Sasha Blake, a sub who was mistreated by her Dom. Master Cole actually rescued her that awful night and knows deep down there is an inner strength in her, somewhere. Sasha's body is off limits to Cole, physically, but her mind is not. He wants to weave himself into her mind, into her thoughts so that with each movement she makes he is there, in her mind. She will know his presence is always there whether he is there or not, physically. He will do mental play until she is healed. No physical play. Or so he says...but he can't resist her and neither can she resist him. His ability to help her heal makes her stronger than he thought pushing her to try more than they ever imagined.
I loved his demand for honesty. Sasha could not get away with "fine" as an answer and had to be upfront and honest with Cole. I loved that he cared that much for his trainee to make sure she was okay in every situation. Sasha learned to tell the truth, even if she thought Cole may not want to hear it. It allowed them to grow as partners, Dom/Sub, and allowed their relationship to grow stronger.
From the book:
Cole: "Sex starts in the mind. Submission starts in the mind. As a Dominant, I have to earn my place in your mind before I can earn the right to take you physically.Read more ›
