I teach AutoCAD at a college and I do have a few students that use Mac at home. Unfortunately AutoCAD in Mac is not quite the same as it is on an HP. I was never able to help my students. Autodesk does not offer a Mac book nor do any of the publishers we use at school. So I found this book. While it did doesn't have all the answers, it certainly has helped me help my Mac users. I recommend this book to my students.

    Thank you so much.

It's a very large, paperback book - great resource for complete beginners because it was a lot of examples and is very easy to follow along, but if you need something specific, AutoDesk has an astounding amount of training tutorials online.

I usually use the "Learning Visually" books when I need to learn a new program but bought this one because I could not find one by "Visually". I am 1/4 of the way through and have found everything very well explained and easy to follow; especially since this is my first time ever using a CAD program. I have only found one error (a set of key strokes that do not work) but perhaps it is just me. I would definitely recommend this to anyone needing to learn this particular program.

A must have- I took an AutoCAD on-line class geared for the PC. This book helped me translate what the PC book was asking me to do. A real help since the setup for the MAC is different from the PC. If you want to learn AutoCAD this will help you.

I have long used AutoCad for PC but had a lot of trouble figuring out the new interface on the Mac. I wanted to make it work but couldn't spend the time to go back to school.

This is a good book for reviewing the interface and learning some tips and tricks. I went through most of the book and it enabled me to at least fumble around in the Mac version. Before I got the book, I wasn't even able to keep the screens open and would loose the drawing without knowing why.

However, I'm still torn on whether the AutoCad Mac version is good enough yet, and I still go back to the PC version running under Parallels, to do real work. There still seem to be quite a few missing features in the Mac, and the totally changed interface means that you don't know if the missing item is really there and you just cannot find it, or if it is something that cannot be done.

The book is very good and I still use it for a general reference, even for the PC version.

Answered my questions but a little bit over my head.

The book really is too descriptive and follows a single project without being able to research a specific topic... need to purchase another book.

This is a great book, it's been a great help..., This is a used book from "Thrift Books", price $31.49..,
Book was in not bad shape, there was sticker on the back that said "Book Returned", it had a few marks on it and some of the pages were yellow, but overall it 's ok..,

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay if you have a time on your hands - Kindle edition

An avid Mac user since the beginning of time I was struggling to find an AutoCAD training programme specific to MAC. Due to the complexity of AutoCAD and in order to save time I really wanted to learn the programme thoroughly and not jump in at the deep end and learn through trial and error as I have done so with many other software programmes in the past. So I bought this book.
The descriptions are clear, the diagrams are really helpful BUT you need time to wade through this.
After a week of the book I switched over to the Lynda videos and learnt in half a day 4 x more than I had waded through over the previous 7 days.
I am sure that I will refer back to the book once I have full command of AutoCAD but if you buy it as I did - as a learning tool - you need to have a lot of time available.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE book that did it

After an unsuccessful course where I learned nothing, and weeks of reading other best-selling 'how to books' and videos, it was this one that had me understanding the basics if CAD in a weekend.

That following Monday morning I started a new job where CAD was essential and by the end of the first week, with the help of this book as a reference, I was knocking out plans.

A year later and this is now one of my primary jobs day to day and I still find myself referencing the well written, simple book when I get stuck.

    A real great book.

I highly recommend this book for beginners, but also for intermediate users and especialy for students like myself. I have AutoCad for Mac since day 1 and love it. But sometimes there are moments i need to know something or solve something and this is when this book comes in. If you are using AutoCad for Mac and want to use it in future, buy this book, it will come handy.

I couldn't find paperback version of the book in Europe so I decided to order it from the States. Not really sure why a book for mac autocad doesn't exist here but it's worth the price. I bought it second hand as the prices for a new book were just scandalous. If you can find this book for under 100 EUR buy it!
