This book covers things that the Kindle Fire HD user's guide should but doesn't or with more detail like side loading apps and accessing the built in camera. It would have been nice to see more coverage of useful Fire apps, and maybe a discussion of rooting(with the proper disclaimers in place of course). Overall though it gives a good overview of the HD, could use an update to discuss the 8.9 inch one too as this focuses on the 7 inch model. I hope that they continue to update this and push updates out to people who have purchased it.

This book has all the basic essentials that a novice would need, but should you want to delve deeper look elsewhere. Nicely written in clear understandable language with some web links, but still very rudimentary.

An easy to read, fairly complete overview of how to use the Kindle Fire that includes some advanced tips. I learned a couple of things after reading this book. One review said it was just a lot of links, but I actually found very few links, and the ones that were there were to what I consider essential apps, and included one that I hadn't known about before. So thanks, CNET, for a very useful and informative book. I got it for free but would consider it worth paying for for a new Kindle Fire owner.

The title and summary do not mention that many of the tips are only for the Kindle Fire HD not the original Fire. It was frustrating to find out that things that sounds great are not available on the original Fire.

I would never have known how to more fully use my new kindle fire without reading this book! I read it all in one day and look forward to reviewing my highlighted parts to refresh my memory of all of kindle's features. A must-read!!

Since I was interested in purchasing the Kindle Fire I wanted a book to look at what it could do and this book did not disappoint me. In fact there was more info than I could absorb without having the Fire.

But I feel more confident that I will be able to do what I need to in a Fire.

I hate android but I wanted to learn so I could give Android a chance so I got this video. I found it to be informative and for someone who is new to a tablet a video like this for your device is a must. I am not a fan of the Kendal fire, but I liked the video as a learning tool. The new Fire is nice, but no this the fire is for medial consumption and that's it. If you want something for both media consumption and all around work the iPad is still king. The new iPad Air and the iPad mini are both Amazing. Since using a tablet I rarely open my laptop. The iPad will do almost anything you want in a dost that weighs less than a pond.

I like that Ms Vaknin covers all the bases, but this book seems geared toward the new Fire HD, and there are some discrepancies between that model and the older Fire. It would have been nice if Ms Vaknin had pointed these out rather than letting readers, particularly newbies, guess what applies when.

While not a criticism of Ms Vaknin, I must find fault with the various typographical errors. I don't know what her editor is doing for the money, but they could pay me half what they pay her editor to just run a simple spell check on the book and everyone would have come up happy!

Overall, however, this book is good for someone unfamiliar with their new device who wants to get started without having to stumble around hunting for settings.
