It has to be one of the strangest stories I've read. It feels 'otherworldly' in some ways and very dark. Melody's journey is heartbreaking, and I confess to bawling my eyes out at the end. It's left me not knowing what to think, and feeling a bit battered and dazed. Like I'm Melody, lol. Thank God I'm not Melody.
If this book had a good editing, to lose all the SPaG errors, I'd have given it 5*, just because once on this roller coaster, I couldn't get off. The author took me on a wild and intense ride. I loved and hated these characters; how the heck did that happen? This story is raw and rough around the edges but it's centre is smooth as silk. So much so, that I could easily overlook, even chuckle at, the errors. I'm not able to do this usually; a book's got to be damned good for that to happen.
There's not much depth to the characters even, but that didn't detract in much from my overall enjoyment. Although I would wish for more information about the main characters, here I'll let it slide; the story-telling so good. A problem rectified with a good Editing.
I would recommend this to those that enjoy really dark, ängstlicher, type stories. It's not for the faint hearted; the beginning definitely not. I will read more by this author.
