I enjoyed witnessing Aster and Josh's budding romantic relationship, and it warmed my heart when he stands up for Aster. Though Josh has been there for both Aster and Ivy since childhood, he vows to Aster that no one is going to hurt her anymore, and that he will always protect her.
The Masterkey is filled with suspense and family secrets. The twists in the story will keep you on the edge of your seat and wondering who you can trust. Wildenstein's fantastic writing and complex characters makes this a must-read!
Read this collection if:
• You enjoy romantic thrillers.
• You're a fan of Olivia Wildenstein and/or the Masterful series.
• You appreciate well written stories.
I reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Aster and Josh are great characters. I loved Josh in the next books and I loved him now. He’s so sweet, reliable, caring, genuine, smart and loving. He’s studying to become a police agent and he can’t wait to be one. Josh is very close to the Redd sisters and he’s always there for them. He realizes that he wants more than being friends with Aster. It’s unexpected, but he loves her just like she is.
Aster loves her twin sister and she’s very close to her. Their home situation isn’t the best, but they have each other. Aster is convinced that something is going on with their mum, but nobody believes her at first. She’s determined to prove everyone wrong. I was constantly wondering who is telling the truth and what could happen next. Aster is happy to have Josh as a friend and spends a lot of time with him. She’s over the moon that he has feelings for her, because she wants him.
This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. At times, I wanted to slap both Ivy and Josh, but they're the two people who love Aster the most in the world.
Cruelty runs high and Aster's story is one of true heartbreak. I refuse to give spoilers, but I highly recommend this book, along with the entire series. If you like books that can make you feel every emotion that the characters within feel, this is definitely the one for you. It's a testament to an author's writing ability and beautiful mind.
Sit back and enjoy the suspense-filled moments, along with chilling thrills throughout.
(I left my review for The Masterminds first. So, I'm out of order. :)

So many surprises!!! A lot of things that were very sad, too. It made me cry a lot. I just want to hug Aster and be her best friend.
